Day before yesterday Inky started having trouble walking. We schduled a visit to the vet yesterday, but the vet canceled because of a family emergency and rescheduled the visit today. Inky ate normally yesterday morning, but did not eat all her supper last night. She also appeared to be in pain. Later that evening she began to have trouble breathing. I was dressing to take her to the emergency vet when Cheryl started crying and told me she was gone. We are in total shock. There wasn't a hint of anything wrong with her just three days ago. Who would have expected she would go before Dottie.
What could have caused this so suddenly? She went outside only with us and never ate anything on the ground or yard so we do not expect poison, but I don't know anything else that would act that quick.
Inky Smiling -- She and Prince are our champion smilers.
A more serious mood.
Two of these were taken just a week ago. One was taken a few months ago.
Oh, Skeptic and Cheryl, I'm so sorry, I know how difficult this is for you.
I would only give a couple ideas, unfortunately the only way to know would be via necropsy. Depending on her age, possibly heart disease (or heartworm), a thromboembolism, systemic infection, GDV.
I'm so very sorry, I hope you can find peace in your heart that you gave Inky a wonderful life filled with love,.....safe and gentle journey, sweet Inky....
how sad I am sorry for your sudden loss....we lost our Blackfoot a few years ago like that...by the time he was diagnosed with heartworm and treatment started, it was only 2-3 days...
Skeptic, y'all have my deep sympathy for your loss. I know the suddenness hurts so much. Dals are favorites of mine and I've always admired Inky and Dottie. Thanks for sharing the sweet pictures - she was such a sweetie.
I am so sorry for both of you. I lost Kujo unexpectedly as well and it's so hard. I try to remember the good times and not dwell on the how or why too much. (((Hugs))) to both of you and to Dottie.
