When I originally got her, I had the problem every once in a while. I just assumed maybe the ... poop would stick to her butt and come off elsewhere, but since I'm in my apartment now I'm noticing it almost daily. Now I'll hear her in the littler box, but she for whatever reason, takes some poop out of the litter box and leaves it somewhere.
Sometimes in the kitchen, sometimes in the carpet. I think she's taking it out too because the last clump I saw had litter on it. I can always tell when she does it too because it smells awful >_< (obviously)
Now I have two cats and these two cats have been best friends for a long long long time so I know she isn't threatened by him. When she first came into this apartment I had the problem like once every couple weeks or something, but lately it's just been like every day.
I'm not someone who doesn't take care of the litter box either. Because I have two cats I'll clean it usually two times daily.
Any ideas what might be causing this and how I can stop it?... it's getting really annoying having to clean poop off the floor every day -_-

Are her stools formed normally, or are they soft? Does she have long hair? If she is long-haired, there is a possibility is is sticking to her fur and when she exits the litterbox and walks/runs away, then it drops off. How much litter are you putting in the box? She could also be eliminating on the floor due to some stress issue or dislike of the box/litter, are you watching her routine, behavior, attitude, any changes in the environment? What are you feeding her?

wow lotsa questions, I guess that means lotsa possibilities. Let's see
she isn't a long haired cat no... her stool is... well usually I find it after it's hardened but the one time I found it right after she went, it was pretty firm i guess. I put quite a bit of litter in the box. It's always at least half full. Im feeding her what I always feed her.. .it's Purina I believe. Also she does she seems pretty normal. She'll play with Luffy and doesn't seem upset.
I know when she was living with my mom for a few weeks, my mom had two litter boxes and the cats would use one for peeing and one for pooping... maybe there's a connection?

Some cats like to have two litter boxes, some are fine with just one, so you could try putting a second one in and see what happens. I have a similar situation with my long hair and after a full vet check up and knowing it wasn't medical in nature the vet and I discussed behavioral issues. We came to the conclusion that changing litter type might help in our case and seh recommended I use the old fashioned clay litter...cheap as cheap can be, no fragrance or clumping. I did switch and now he is using the box just fine. I also find that if I fill it too full, he doesn't like to use it, so I try to only keep it at a max of 2 inches deep and he has no problem using it. I hope that helps!

Agree with Tina, less litter, and more than one box.

hey sorry I kinda forgot I posted this. I used a lot less litter. Two inches or so like you guys said and I haven't had the problem in weeks. I THINK she likes having a flat surface go to on or something because I'm always scrapping it from the bottom when she goes XD... that's why I was filling the box a lot more. I was trying to deter that. Guess she showed me o.o;

Good to hear, but if she starts doing it again, get her seen by your vet to rule out health problems, or diet problems.
