This email just posted on a Lakeview, New Orleans forum. Such sad pictures - one is of a cat - many show how once pleasant middle class neighborhoods are still in ruins - although my part of the Lakeshore community continues to recover (repairs began on my house last week!)

Subject: [rebuild_lakeview] Dog known to roam Lakeview needs your help!
http://neworleans. craigslist. org/pet/43087952 9.html
Please visit the craigslist posting, a very detailed post of
information regarding my request for your help in locating the
large, tan/red, neutered dog seen in the pictures.
The black rottie mix was finally captured on Labor Day and is at
ARNO with 4, two week old puppies. The puppies are not the
offspring of the male dog still at large because it was recently
determined that he is neutered.... they likely were from the same
household prior to Katrina and for the past year I have tracked
their activity over 6 square miles of territory, including several
streets in Lakeview
(5500 block Rosemary, 5500 block Woodlawn, Navarre, Hawthorne, 6200
block Marshall Foch and 5400 block Mound)
The tan male dog is now without his companion and he is a very
fearful dog that spends a lot of time hiding under houses...they
were often visible because she was there. Now that she is gone, it
is extremely difficult for me to track the male dog but he was seen
traveling on Saint Louis toward Carrollton on or about 9/07/07 with
another dog and coming from the direction of City Park Avenue...he
is likely to keep going to all the spots he used to travel to with
his rottie companion.
Please review all the information at
http://neworleans. craigslist. org/pet/43087952 9.html
Please see photos of the two dogs at

I have posted a few photos in the photo section of this site so that
you can see the large, tan/red male dog that is still at large and
has previously been known to roam through Lakeview.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Keep them in your thoughts?
Re: Keep them in your thoughts?
I've never stopped praying for all the animals in NO and other areas. Such a tragedy for so many. One of my vets just recently treated a NO dog here, he had been adopted out, the owner somehow found him but the owner was not a pillar of responsibility, long story short new owner now has the dog and he's recovering nicely (stress and severe skin conditions).
