what do i do? my cat is bleeding

Post by Brigitt Johnson »

After reading some of the other post i've pretty much summed up that my cat has UTI orsomething in that nature. she is 6 yrs old, never been spayed and she is indoor cat, her symtems are a mucousy bloody (pink in color) discharge coming from her vulva, first spotting then there were times of it gushing out! What do i do?, i don't have the money to take her to a vet or emergency i am on medical leave myself and the money is not available. what will happen to her if i can't provide treatment?

Well, if she's never been fixed... um... She could just be in heat. It's normal for female cats to bleed when they're in heat. Think of it as a period.

BUT... If you're concerned... Well... If she's bleeding for some other reason, simply put... She could die. Suddenly. Unfortunately, if you're not going to take her to the vet, you'll have to accept responsibility for it if that happens.

We cannot diagnose over the internet...she MUST get to a vet....most vets will take post dated checks...or there is a place to apply online with CareCredit and it covers vet care as well...

She must get to a vet ASAP for a proper diagnosis and treatment...and spayed...

Explain to your vet that you are temporarily on medical leave, when you expect to return, and see if you can work something out...

we all owe it to our animals to seek medical attention for them in their times of need

To add to my previous post, in case it wasn't clear... I do also think you should take her to the vet.

Even though I think it's likely she's in heat, I'm not a vet, and it's better to be safe than sorry. If she's not in heat, this is, as I said, an emergency situation in which she could easily die.

And even if she is just in heat, it would really be better if you had her in to the vet to get fixed. Not only to protect from an unwanted pregnancy if she accidentally gets outside... It would prevent any more bleeding if that is what her problem is. That would be particularly good if you're concerned about cat blood on your rugs and furniture. :P

You have money for online access to the internet, how about going without the net to pay for your kitty's needs and care? She's bleeding and not spayed, these are both red flag problems, she needs to see a vet RIGHT THIS MINUTE! We do not and cannot diagnose on an internet message forum, only a VET can examine your kitty. Does she not deserve to be examined, treated effectively and not at risk for a serious health issue? Get her seen NOW, where there is a will there's a way. Sell something of value, ask a friend or family member for help or a credit card where you can pay them back later, your kitty deserves to be diagnosed properly an treated properly NOW!

Love Your Pets - Spay and Neuter!. Read the link please, it explains what the risks are in not having your kitty spayed, the longer she is intact, the increased risk she is at.

In heat cats rarely produce blood. This is more typical of dogs.

It could be anything from a serious urinary tract infection, to a serious bacterial infection, to pyometra, to internal hemorrhage. Vet NOW.

most all of us here live paycheck to paycheck...wonder how we will pay bills...and our vets take post dated checks....mine will take them for up to 6 months out, depending on the total bill....

So yes....it may be easy to say it...but that is because we also live it....

Have you had your kitty for the 6 years of her life? If so, why hasn't she been spayed in those 6 years? In those 6 years could you NEVER afford to spay her?

The point is, we are not vets here, and we do NOT diagnose on the net, NO ONE can diagnose over the net, not even vets. An exam by a vet is the only way to determine what is wrong, and we are simply trying to get you to think of ways to get her there....like: borrow money or a credit card from a friend or family member, sell/pawn something of value, carecredit, although if you don't have good credit, that isn't going to help, ....save the money, put money into a fund whenever you DO have money. Etc etc.

Your kitty needs help immediately, and there may be times in the future she needs immediate help again. That's the point, prepare ahead of time if you're going to have pets. So please, for HER sake, whatever is necessary, get her seen by a vet immediately!

We're not judging, Brigitt, I promise. No one here is independently wealthy. I don't even have money for groceries this week and am living off a jar of peanut butter and a box of Easy Mac. But if my cat was ill, I'd be busting down vet's doors just to find the one who would be willing to work out a payment plan with me. I guarantee you, if the cat's ill, and you really try, you'll find a vet that will work with you.

God, I'm sick of Easy Mac... :rpuke:
