To my knowledge, veterinary boards do not divulge information such as you've described to clients. "Complaints" may be noted, but that doesn't always mean they were validated.
Is your vet a member of VIN? If so, ask him to ask them for a referral, he can also ask in the VIN forums.

Traci,
I can't find this post where you said I said this. I found a lot of others but not this.
Can you tell me how to find it?
(She had xrays in 2003 and last year, cortisone shot, pred. but we need to find something that will work. Would surgery to remove some bone be too drastic?)
Thanks,
Lynda

Re: Cat Arthritis
You just learned something new about vet boards. I didn't make up what I said. The investigator told me what I reported here. They have done it for years.
The one my vet recommends also had a problem with the board.
He didn't give the client sufficient information for them to make a decision on a hip replacement. His next problem was mixing the wrong meds. The dog had to be euthanized. Most of the complaints are dismissed however the facts are there for the public's knowledge.
My case when a vet killed Boots is one of the few that resulted in in sanctions.
If you would like to verify what I say, I have no problem with that. Email me and I will tell you how to contact the board.
For now I am discouraged. I don't want to go to anymore quacks.
Cutie is still jumping on and off tables and chairs, etc. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. Seeing vets who makes things worse isn't good either.

I wasn't questioning there were complaints, I suggested that to my knowledge, (at least here in the States), veterinary boards do not divulge that information to clients, unless there is an ongoing investigation when the client has persued a serious complaint or suit.
Despite your reservations about vets and surgeons, you can't just sit around and let Cutie Pie's condition worsen, it sounds like it has already worsened considerably in the last few years. DEMAND from your vet an appropriate referral to a qualifed orthopedic vet or veterinary surgeon. Call other vets in the area as well to get an idea of referrals to orthopedic vets you can consult with. Again, if your vet has access to VIN, he can inquire with professionals there.
