Douja

Post by Tambrey »

I was not sure where to put this...but I am sitting here with tears rolling down my face after reading...

http://www.forpitssake.org/douja.html

I am at this site, because my son brought home the most gorgeous and loving pit mix dog the other night...it was either he bring Ghost home...or Ghost went to the Humane Society...and being a Pit Mix, we know what would have automatically happened to him

We are trying to find a home...but we have to be very careful with this one....he MUST go to the right home...
he came from a good loving home...but he was the 3rd dog...landlord said they could only have 2...so the children had to give up "Their" dog :(

I am hoping that this organization, or some other pit rescue organization, will help us find a good forever home for Ghost

Believe me...if we could keep him...we would...but it would NOT be fair to the ones we already have...

oh but he is gorgeous...loving...gentle...housebroken...great with the cats...wants to play with the other dogs but we have not let him yet...sleeps with us...eager to please....does not bark or carry on...once his stubby tail starts, his entire body begins to quiver from tail to nose and we have to hold him to get his body to settle down!

Meet Ghost....
Please Pray that we find him an appropriate and forever loving home

If we weren't so far away and if hubby wasn't so stubborn about getting a third dog...

Shoot, if I was in an apartment that allowed dogs, I'd take him. Sigh. I want a house...

HAHAHAHAHA. Oh, you're adorable, Tambrey... if I'm in a house sometime in the next three years, I'll be impressed with myself. Sean and I both have student loans, we have necessary credit card debt... we don't make enough money to save for a down payment, and I don't want to pay more in interest than I am for the house itself... it's a pipe dream at this point... but I want a dog SO BAD... and Ghost is so sweet...

I would love to take him! If I could just get back to my own house.... but that probably won't be until November at the earliest. Dogs have to be under 30 lbs to be pets here in my Austin apt. complex and my 2 cats disqualify me for another pet of any kind anyway.

My earliest dog memories are of King, our American pit bull in Camden County, Missouri, who looked very much like this dog. My dad loved the "bullies" - not for actual fighting of course, but because they are such a wonderful but often misused and misunderstood breed... Somewhere I have Kodak snapshots of me as a little girl and my baby bro and King, on the old family farm and up at the Lake a few miles north: Dad was the medical officer for the engineering company that built the Bagnell Dam, which turned the Osage river valley into the Lake of the Ozarks. The whole little town of Linn Creek, MO was moved to higher ground when the Lake came in. The house we were renting was one of the last to be moved. When the huge bulldozers could be heard coming nearer, my toddler-age bro would stay with Mother and watch, but King and I would run hide under a bed :) Down at the farm, King was also a fine family dog - great around the horses, didn't chase chickens, was quietly protective but always gentle...

I do so hope a proper home can be found for Ghost...

Well E's...if we still have him come November, and you are still interested...we will meet you somewhere between Iowa and on your way to your home and deliver him...I KNOW he would have a loving home with any of the people here...
