Hollow lump?

Post by bate2022 »

Hi, there. I just had a kitten literally walk into my house yesterday. We've decided to keep her, but we've noticed that she's got a lump on her stomach that's grown a bit in the past day.

When you press on it, it deflates completely, and does not seem to hurt her or bother her at all. It goes in, and expands again when you remove pressure. It's slightly smaller than a golf ball now.

It feels like, for lack of a better description, an air pocket.

I can't afford to bring her to the vet right away, until I get paid in two weeks. Does anyone have any insight? I'm really stumped. I've been around cats all my life and never experienced anything like this.

the kitten cannot wait...we cannot diagnose or even begin to guess as to what it might be without seeing it...but please do not keep pressing on it as it could have fluids in it that are seeping out through a tear in the growth, forcing the fluids into thre body of the kitten...

Most vets will take post dated checks and you can also try CareCredit...they give emergency funds, even for vet bills...

let us know what the vet says...but get it in TODAY...NOW...ASAP!

Agree, kitten MUST be examined TODAY!

This could be anything from an abcess, to a hernia to a hidden cuterebra (which is a fly bot that burrows into the skin and must be removed by a vet), to nearly anything. As Tambrey advised, do NOT manipulate the lump in any way! You cannot risk waiting, kitten needs to be seen/examined by a vet TODAY!! Ask the vet about post-dated checks, or borrow from a friend or family member.
