Trouble
I already made an appointment for trouble and baby on Wed at 2.. I was planning to take both of them to get vaccines and i also told them that trouble has been peeing outside of litter box and she also has same problem on her neck again (the one you see dried blood)...
I am wondering is it possible that it flair up for UTI again or is it another behavior again since i took her off behavior med like 2 months ago and she did good until few days ago. She like pee right by litter box and litter box been clean every day.
About her neck why did it came back again since she was heal from ointment med and it came back like a week ago but it might have been possible it been there longer?
She also told me Trouble wont get Vaccine since she been peeing outside litter box but why? I mean it wont hurt her right.
Is there anything i should ask a vet?

Re: Trouble
Your vet probably means no vaccinations will be given if the cats are ill or suffering a health condition. This is standard, no vaccines should be given to pets when they have infections, fevers, other health issues. If the health issue is treated and if resolved, then a couple weeks after full recovery, vaccinations can then be given.
Ask your vet about a skin scrape or culture on the neck lesion, these are harmless procedures. The culture could be handy for detecting certain bacteria in which to prescribe the most effective antibiotic. Have fleas and mites been ruled out? Was insect or spider bite ruled out?
Trouble should have a urinalysis done to determine if there is an underlying infection going on or crystals forming. Yes, if a cat suffered a UTI, crystals, or is prone to them, they can reoccur again, and again and again, usually do to stress or a stressful event, or because the diet was not appropriate, etc.

Re: Trouble
Oh okay i just wonder about why they wont do vaccine on trouble...
Flea has been rule out... Cant remember about the ear mites but i am sure it was rule out since last time i went there for trouble neck and her ear was fine and no fleas... I dont think it was insect or spider bite since it happen before and it heal then it start again. I will ask if she can do skin scrape/culture. This is like 3rd time it happen.
I will ask her if she can do urinalysis since trouble has one last year and now i can do it this year...
I hope it nothing bad I wrote it all down to ask her when i will see vet on wed

Re: Trouble
Well I got back from vet. Turn out Trouble has UTI and they did Urine- Analysis/Sediment.. She is on Baytril #20 for 1/2 tablet every 12 hours...
She also said she wanted to wait before they Biopsy the neck since she ask me how long it been there. I said it like came back 3 times.. She think it was a Scratch that might have cut it... I told her i dont think the med that you gave me work at all since it came back.
So what is Urine Analysis/Sediment? Is that Same thing as Urinalysis? That what i hear her said it. Trouble have to go back in 2 weeks for recheck and neck...
She also lost weight too she used to weigh like 12 pound and now she weight 11.6 which it not bad since she need to lose weight.
Fleas and ear mites has been rule out and also spider/bug was rule out too... Since her ear was losing hair too and it turn out to be an allergy and i did hear trouble sneezes alot so i know it was an allergy.

Re: Trouble
Is this the same vet who treated her a couple months ago for the lesion? She had to ask how long this lesion was there? Is it Trouble who has the lesion on the neck, or Baby?
If that's the case, can you see a new vet? She could have referred to kitty's records right then and there and should have been prepared on her history before she even asked you! She also prescribed an ointment at first that didn't work, and now she's telling you she thinks it's a scratch?
Sorry, this is unbelievable. Please get her to another vet who can do a closer exam, possibly a skin scrape and/or culture to make sure this isn't something serious that is being neglected for treatment.
Sediment is just what it implies, sediment in the urine. It appears like tiny grains of sand in the urine, which could be indicative of crystals forming, but not always. I assume this was just a test combined with the urinalysis and the vet told you Trouble did NOT have crystals, just a urinary tract infection?

Re: Trouble
Yes It same place but different doctor.. I think there was 2 or 3 doctor work there. Yes it is trouble have the lesion. I think the reason why she think it was a scratch is because trouble been itching and she ask me where does trouble scratch? I point it out.. She said that she wanted to wait til couple week til UTI is over then dealing with the neck and recheck urine... She said there was no crystals and it was just a UTI and I told her that she been drinking alot of water and it was just a UTI.
Re: Trouble
Ok, but I'm still concerned, didn't that lesion appear a month or two ago? If so, scratches don't take that long to heal.
If you can, call the clinic back first thing tomorrow morning and ask for the first doctor who saw the neck lesion first (a month or two ago), tell her you're concerned it hasn't gone away SINCE then.

Re: Trouble
It does anger me that the didnt look into the records before asking. I dislike when they do that. I am glad I see an old time vet practice that was 2 dr's only (father/son) but only father now and even though he is in his 70's he is as clear as you get. He knows all my animals by name and EVEN remembered when our Bird , Pete grew back her wings(we didnt know this we were knew to big birds) and we had her outside and she flew up in a tree. We called Vet and eventually we did get her down. BUT he remembered it fondly and we laugh about those things.
I have to mention this....was her diet ever changed appropriately to keep UTI's at bay? She obviously now seems to have recurrent UTI's and her diet is very crucial in helping her maintain a clean bill of health.
I have to ask this one as well.....did the Vet every say that the "scratch" was a sebaceous cyst? I ask only because "I KNOW" what a pain they are to get treated and keep away.
Sebaceous cysts can be tenacious and hard to get rid of for good without surgery.
One of my German Shepherds had one on his right shoulder and it got to the size of a quarter...this vet we were going to (someone else not my regular one) said oh yes he needs surgery right away and we will romove it. I dont like games being played so i asked what it was he said most likely a sebaceous cyst and eventually it will get so big and the skin will thin out and pop on its own. UM so i asked then why do anything? He said well fine and left. I was angry that he didnt tell me why or give a good reason to do the surgery at all. If he would have shown that he was knew what he was doing I would have done it.
Anyway i checked it and cleaned it and made sure it was ok. Eventually it popped and the whole scab thing was there and it took forever to heal. It does come back, always fills up and again we go through the same thing. I went to my regular vet this past february and the new guy(the son passed away so vet had to get someone in to help out) put a needle in it and said that there was nothing in it and yes it was a sebaceous cyst and just that it was a pain and if i wanted it removed they could do it, explained why and all of that and said that it was up to me and when i was ready we would do it. I said not now because dog needed to get his shots first and I wanted to see what it was going to do after this one healed. Well it finally healed AGAIN and I am just waiting to see if it comes back again. This time if it does I want it taken care of.
Sorry for the long story, just thought that maybe this might be the problem since a spider bit or bug bite is not likely to happen in the exact same place each time. LOL
Get a new vet and ask them if it could be a cyst or something else.

Get a new vet and ask them if it could be a cyst or something else.
Almost 7 years in remission from Graves disease and no meds!
Re: Trouble
Didn't know this appeared a year ago!!
This is NOT a scratch!!
It's time you get a vet to examine this more closely, and as said above, get a skin scrape/culture done, etc. Is this anywhere near behind the nape of the neck or between the shoulder blades? If so, and if it appeared near a time vaccinations were given, get it re-evaluated totally. This can't go on any further, it's obviously a lesion that needs serious attention.
