My cat lost her voice and her energy

Post by frankie02 »

My cat is a siamese who was found in the street by my roommate's ex girlfriend. She's been eating and welcome at my roommate's house ever since. I moved two years ago and bonded instantly with Bambi (her name :) Bambi is usually active and is very vocal. She loves to talk! But last week I noticed, after her disapperance for 2 days, she couldn't talk anymore and her energy level was really low. When she tries to speak she gags. She now spends her days sitting down like a little old grandma. I took her to the vet, they did x rays and blood work and found nothing abnormal. The doctor did say she was dehydrated.
Has anybody ever experienced that? Thanks in advance for your help.

How old is she?

Exactly what bloodwork was done?

Did the vet address the dehydration, such as give fluids? Did she have a high temperature?

Has she been tested for FELV/FIV? Is she current on vaccinations?

Was there any evidence of puncture wounds from a bite from another animal?

Did the vet check her oral health? What kind of shape are her teeth in?

Does she wear a collar she could have gotten hung up or trapped in?

And, please, Indoors ONLY!

Thank you very much Traci for your reply.
My cat was doing worse, I took her back to the vet, they found a polyp and removed it.
Hopefully she will get her voice back soon and the polyp won't be cancerous or come back too soon. Apparently they reoccur within a year.
