Nice, sunny pics - we're finally getting some sun, and heat, here, too. That's beautiful tree you have with the purple flowers, what kind is it?

It's a southern staple - crepe myrtle. They bloom in winter down here in FL.

Glad to see the yard finally dried out. We've finally had a day without rain (so far, at least - it's only 6:00 - could still happen). Don't blame the dogs for taking it easy - and we haven't even gotten to the "dog days of summer" yet!

Oh, and I like the dogs too :P That is a fine crepe myrtle (don't care what the dictionaries put first, it is CREPE... except of course to clods who don't like the way they shed flowers and insist on calling it crape without the 'e'... a former son-in-law of mine always made a point of that, because he knew crepe myrtle was one of my very favorites...

Definition has it as a Chinese shrub, but they look like trees to me... I love the silvery bark and fairy tale shapes... we have them in San Antonio also, but they don't get as large over there as here in South Louisiana...

BTW, your doggies stay indoors in the a/c most of the time, don't they? Or not? My dog has the thick double coat, so I never leave her out very long in this weather. But yesterday midafternoon a neighbor of mine was jogging with his malamute (sp?) and the dog was just trotting along like it was in the Iditeride... So maybe even north country breeds adapt somehow?
