This coming Tuesday my little monsters, who are all out of the bin now and moving around just fine (hoo boy, there's trouble!) will be four weeks this coming Tuesday. They now have teeth and I saw the biggest lapping water from Smokey's water bowl. I saw the second biggest by the food and water bowl, but I didn't see anything done...caught it late and she looked like she either ate or drank something because she was licking her lips a bit. When can I start putting out some baby food for them. i brought the kind that has just chicken, tureky and beef and broth as its only ingredients.
They're growing up toooooo fast, but they're getting bigger and cuter by the day. I'll try to post some more pics this weekend or early in the week....I also put out a little tray of litter for them, but so far no takers that I can see.

Re: Weaning kitten question
Do you mean human baby food? Don't feed human baby food because it doesn't have vital kitten nutrients and has no nutritional value for kittens. (remember, essential taurine, etc)
Most kittens can be started to wean by 4 weeks of age, but some may take longer and not show interest in solid food for up to 6 weeks or so. If that occurs, make sure mom still has enough milk to produce and the kitten(s) continue to gain weight on a weekly basis.
Most of us here use Iams canned Kitten food, and drizzle KMR formula (dry formula, mixed to package directions) over it so they can still get formula to drink, yet learn the new taste and texture of solid food.

Re: Weaning kitten question
I got the 2nd stage KMR formula and made a thin gruel of that to begin with...and gradually making it more pasty for them...at about 6 weeks I started putting out some dry kitten kibble and mixing some of that with the gruel, some with plain water and another bowl with dry kibble...they had their choice and it was a gradual change for them...of course, any mixed kibble, I took up after a while if not eaten...
got any recent pics?!?!

Re: Weaning kitten question
I figured the baby food, mixed with dry formula and water would get them started. Though baby food would be softer for them to start munching on. But I went out and got some Iams kitten food and will see how they take to it tonight. At least two of them are already lapping up water with ease and showing interest in the wet food bowl.
I've got some more pics but have to upload them yet. I've been busy all weekend...yesterday I went to the CFA cat show. That was alot of fun. I got some cute pics there too.
The kittens though are getting cuter and cuter. The runt and the biggest love snuggling up with me to sleep and follow me around...will be soooo hard to give them up the most!
