Hi guys,
Our cat(Spike!) has recently stopped coming in the house, seems somewhat scared of coming in. We also have a Dog(Max!) which Spike is fine with and is not the reason he's staying away, but Max recently had an infestation of fleas which has got them everywhere, and we're Spike has/had got them too.
Spike'll go outside as he usually does but stays outside for longer than he normally would (The last 2 days have been quite hot where we live though?), he comes to the door or window and waits to be let in(we don't have a cat flap, he's used to it), but when he has the chance to come inside he'll walk off. So he will wait outside sometimes for up to an hour to be let in, and when he has the chance he walks away and doesn't want to come in, like he is scared of coming inside.
When he does come inside, which is never by him walking inside on his own, he'll stay in for about an hour then start charging around the house like he usually does when he wants to go out. He will not lie down where he usually does and is never settled.
We have no idea what's keeping him away, it's been happening for the last 1-2 weeks.
Any help?
Thanks,
Jordan
Cat scared of coming in home?
Re: Cat scared of coming in home?
Treat the dog by getting him to your vet for an exam and proper flea control, like Frontline or Advantage ONLY through your vet. If kitty has fleas, let only your vet treat him with Advantage for Cats or Frontline for Cats.
Indoors ONLY for kitty, problem solved. Please read the link in it's entirety.
What's keeping him away? Unaltered females, curiosity that will eventually get him in trouble or hurt seriously or killed, fear of the dog, disinterest in the home environment, nothing to keep him interested and entertained and safe indoors? Do you spend time with him in playtime and activity, bonding, etc?
