Traci....genders? They come in genders???? LOL! I think I have one of each per set...m&f gray and m&f tabbies....sort of a noah's ark thing. I will check again when I get home....I haven't even named the little guys yet. I think I'm afraid of getting too attached. They're really "moving about the cabin" now and I expect them to be escaping in a couple of days now and all the real fun will start. Last night the full tabby almost got out because he was climbing over Smokey.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

So sweet!!! Aunt Debbie, I'm with you on the gender thing. I brought my female cat named Karma to the vet and was informed that she was a he. Still love him to death, but I haven't told him that his name is more suited for a female.

Thank you, I will be reading all those links in time!Auntie Debbie wrote:Cindy, on the side of this board, there is a menu. Under Feline health, please click onto Kitten care and read up on what to expect. There are also a few links that will give you further information. Since the kittens are so young, you should have an idea of what to look for in development so that if they aren't developing as they should you'll know. And in that case a vet visit would be imperative.
I am though surprised that a shelter or a rescue group would offer a mother cat with such young kittens for adoption, especially with not ensuring the adopters are experienced with such little ones. But they must have felt you were offering a good home or you would not have them as you do. I hope your little ones will develop as they should and that you are having as much fun as I am having. Sadly, mine have to be adopted when they are weaned. You'll enjoy your kittens all the more since you are keeping them. Enjoy them while they're still so young, they do grow up so fast, as the saying goes!
Just as the new mommy and kits were settling in, we got in 3 orphan meezers, eyes just opened! They went in with our mommy of 2 and now she has 5! She is an excellent mom. I will bring my camera today
They are not in my home, they are at the shelter. The vet will be looking at them tomorrow, but they look healthy.
At our shelter nothing goes out the door until it is altered, so these babes will be around awhile

Cindy, I'm so sorry...I misread your first post. I thought you took a momma from the shelter! Still, if you read up on those links, you'll enjoy watching them all the more because you'll know what to be expecting..
Last night one almost got out of the bin they're in and started climbing on me....(I slep part of the night on a thick quilt next to them). I think the fun is just about to start, LOL! They should be starting to teeth now which will be fun too! They are doing such cute things now like grooming themselves a bit, interacting with each other and responding to sounds and what's around them. They also like being petted and paid attention to by me.
I still have people reminding me I cannot keep them!
Judy S...Karma is a nice name for male or female, LOL! Secret is safe with me!

Hi Auntie Debbie, I got some shots of our shelter babies! 3 Siamese fosters babies and the 2 white ones are the biological babies of the Mommy. All are un named, so if anyone has some good name suggestions, especially for Mom, I would appreciate it!
I took the pic first, then rescued the poor little baby behind Momma!
the siamese babies:
a white babe, eyes not open yet:
One of the white kits being squeezed by his foster sibling!

Admit it, Cindy, you are becoming a cat person, now aren't you?
I'd name mom, simply, ...Precious.
As for the babes, watch their personalities, there names will come to you naturally.
Adorable pictures, adorable mom, adorable babies!
If I might suggest, please keep an eye on the youngest kittens, it appears the siamese babes are slightly older, and may crowd out the tinier ones, please ensure the tiny ones are getting plenty of nursing time and milk from "Precious"!! As well as ensuring they are cuddled with mom for warmth.

I think the babes are fine because they sleep a lot, which I assume means full tummies! Our kennel cleaner, who spends the most time with all the cats, keeps Mom very well fed! Also, they are in a warmer room of the shelter, the air conditioner doesn't work as well in that room. It's not hot by any means, but it is not cooled as much as the other rooms.
I wish I could watch them more during the day but it has been busy lately.

The kittens are just as adorable as I remember Deddie.
Hugs for everyone, and prayers for those who want them.
