Last Chance Rescue Saves Pets That May Be Put To Sleep Near Jefferson, SD
For the past two months, Last Chance Rescue has been the temporary home for dogs facing their last days at animal control.
"When she's got a dog that she thinks might be put down, she calls us and we come get it," said Kay Forsling of Last Chance Rescue.
Then Kay takes care of the animals until she can find a new owner.
"I love dogs and they all deserve a good home," said Forsling. "And when they're in those little cages, they're either so depressed or so hostile because it's not home; and they know it."
Rosada came to Last Chance Rescue looking for a dog. She left with two.
"It would be really sad because it hurts when dogs have to be put to sleep," said Rosada.
Last Chance Rescue does not charge for adoptions. But to keep this operation going, they need some support.
"We need donations of food. Frontline is a big expense for all these dogs, but it's a necessity. And the Heart Guard is also a necessity."
To contact Last Chance Rescue, call Kay Forsling at 258-3680.
I guess they are nationwide....but I am so glad to see one on our area...this is why I have NEVER taken an animal to our Humane Society...becuase they are NOT a no-kill shelter
Why not charge for adoptions? This is a large part of a rescue/sanctuary funding, there's no reason one can't charge an adoption fee to cover the expenses. She could choose whatever fee she feels appropriate, and most adopters expect that.
There is another one I was put in contact with lastnight as well... Pet Pals for Life
I found out about this one when a woman e-mailed me from a post I put on Freecycle and we got to e-mailing back and forth...she used to work for them doing the placement adoptions and has done feral foster/rescue for 20 years now...and suggested that I might contact them to find good forever homes for some of the ferals I have taken care of and want to find homes for...
Sioux Falls is not that far away that I would be able to travel there if needed
Noooooooo...NEVER EVER......I posted for a Scat Mat because I am getting tired of the cats getting on top of the entertainment center and I have tried EVERYTHING....she wrote me back with more ideas to try....contact paper upside down etc and we got to talking....
oh noooo...I would NEVER post a critter on that...I see them all the time and many times it is "kittens 4 weeks old, weaned, litterbox trained, eating solid foods, and ready to go"....I e-mail the poster adn lecture them on the fact that they are too young, etc....
