I introduced the cat's

Post by Saphire_1975 »

Anna and Sammy have been living in the same house for 4 weeks now, and until today have never seen each other. I've just been doing the switching of rooms and blanket's thing. Well I have this week off from work so i decided to get serious about it, so I stuck Sammy in the carrier and brought him in with Anna and babies. They had a nice little stairing contest but no growling or hissing Anna even let her babies go by the carier to see Sammy. So, I considered it a good meeting. Later on Anna wanted out and I decided that I'd let them meet face to face. As I stood by with blanket in hand lol they came face to face. Everytime Sammy went within two feet from her she'd growl and Sammy would back away take a submisive pose then slowly move closer again. My take is that Anna's growl is a scared growl not a threatening growl, since she laid down the whole time. Anna even at one point pooped herself. Do cat's get the poop scared out of them? Well I decided that it was enough for one day and seperated them again. Sory this is so long.

i would suggest reading this article and this one and yet another (if you haven't already).

not sure on the defecation, perhaps that is some other issue....someone else will need to chime in on that one.

Well day 2 of them meeting is going great. Right now they are laying about 3 inches from eachother. There wasn't even any hissing or growling. At first Anna made it quiet clear that she was up for mating, but, Sammy being neutered didn't pick up on the signals at all :) I told her that he's more likely to try nursing than mating, but she didn't listen :)

Sounds like you are doing great. I'm also not sure about the pooping...I've had a cat who loses control over her bladder when she gets into a serious fight with one of our other cats...but never the bowels. Keep up the good work!
