Bad treat

Post by momPaws »

I saw this on another board type of board I frequent - apparently this dog treat is not toxic, but the coloring comes off on the dog, rug, etc.
My dog absolutely loves the Beggin' Strips from Purina. I was shopping today and saw a new product called "Beggin' Chew." A new chew bone for dogs that taste like the Beggin' Strips. I thought it would be the greatest thing!

Don't buy this crap unless your dog is caged into one area that's extremely easy to clean. AND! - You plan on bathing your dog afterwards.

Everything in the immediate area is dyed RED. Including the dog. Anything the dog licks or touches with it's mouth is dyed red. My dog now has a red snout, paws, chest, and belly. The huge stain on my living room throw rug is secondary. I never wanted my rug to match my couch but now it does.
She went on to say that she called Purina, but they just placated her. I haven't seen this item, but will definitely not buy it.

I had the same reaction. I'll bet Purina changes the formula - nobody will ever buy it more than once.

Good grief, Purina. How does something like that go unnoticed in product testing?

yeah slvr I'd have to ask the same question on that one. DUH! LOL

Mompaws I'm not sure if the woman in the post got the stuff out of the furniture that it damaged but she can use a little Lestoil if nothing else worked. Or goo gone or goof off. I know it seems stupid to try but some food stuff comes out with it. Not sure why but i have done it and it does.

Also if the dog is still red Make sure she brushes that area well often to stimulate the hair to grow there ....Um as i type this i can not help but laugh although I too would have been highly po'd as well i just cant stop laughing dang it. LOL

Just a bonus for ya'll....I had a Dalmation that ate Purine ONE Lamb and RIce and he too was dyed by the product, I complained years ago about it but they never changed the formula. But I laugh thinking that he was this beautifull dal with all these black and RED spots. LOL ROFL
