ALL PET FOOD RECALL POSTS IN TOP STICKY THREAD ONLY!

People please, I understand the need for the information to stick out and for now I'm copying and pasting, which is essentially doubling the posts, to the ONE specific thread about the food recall. It's better to go through a few pages in one thread than to lose information off a page completely.

Plus the updates as new topics push other health threads off the board.

I've talked to Traci about keeping on top of the board, by phone and via email. Right now I have cart blanch as moderator on the board and will see fit to merge and/or delete anything pertaining to this topic.

My apologies in advance if I'm coming off as a b_itch but between daily life, trying to help with this board and the fact that I may have 6 out of 9 contaminated cats, I'm not in the mood.

My opinion..get rid of the unnecessary stickies, and make this an announcement..it is very important to our pets..not to get lost.

The main pet food thread is tagged as a sticky. I don't see an option in my mod settings to make it an announcement and will double check with Traci. I agree, it's too important to our pets to get lost.

It should be somewhere on the edit page. I used to run a (two, actually) phpBB, and I know it's POSSIBLE, but I'm having a hard time remembering if it was on the edit screen, or somewhere else. 99% certain you can do it the same way you make it a sticky, just a different check box.

If you ever need help on just the technical side of the board, let me know. My e-mail is in my info, and there isn't much as far as tweaking that I haven't done with one of these silly things.

(Back in the day, I actually wrote a couple of themes for phpBB... something I will NEVER do again. What a time-wasting headache! )

EDIT: I found it. If you go to the very first post in a thread and click the edit button, it's right beneath the text box. There are four check boxes, then three radio buttons that say, "Post topic as: Normal, Sticky, Announcement." Announcements really aren't that much different than stickies, but they get a different icon and are always at the top of the board.

Just had to log into the old board that I have and look to see where the option was.

Thanks but the only options I get when going into the first post of a thread to edit are Post topic as: Normal Sticky Check marks by normal and sticky.

Huh. I wonder if it's the difference between Moderator and Administrator status. Interesting. Oh well, I tried.

Would be nice if we could do FOLDERS and put some of these similar topics, but different threads that might be important...into that folder...

I did just go ahead and delete threads that Cleo moved earlier...and please Cleo...do not think you need to do this alone...I come and check in here numerous times a day and can help take care of things as well...

I got rid of my stickies, except for the info about fleas and hazards of smoking around your pets. I feel those are important enough to leave up. The rest are up to Traci's discretion.
