MY CAT'S EARS LOOK MOTH EATEN.
MY CAT'S EARS LOOK MOTH EATEN.
Hi, I am new to this forum and would be grateful for any help.
My cat over the last week has signs of losing fur on his ears. They look as if he has been moth eaten. I have not seen him scratch himself.
He is a black and white cat.
Any ideas? I would be grateful.

I could be any number of things from fleas to a fungal infection to irritation from somthing causing him to scratch the fur off. I'd recommend taking him to the vet to have it checked out because if it's something like ringworm you wanted it handled right away.

Were you able to take kitty to vet and find out what was wrong? I agree with tina. Hope you find out fast.

Yes took the cat and he is being treated for ringworm. There are three ointments, one being sent from USA but I don't believe it is ringworm but have no choice.
My daughter has a nine weeks old baby and it's very worrying because of the baby.
I have heard that ringworm is not common so why should he have picked it up.
Any other ideas?

Ringworm is or isnt common depending on where you are. You should all check yourselves and have daughter check baby for signs of ringworm. You can google it to look for what it looks like in a human. It is a round patch red itchy and even hair loss in the spot. It is treated by dr's successfully. Why do you think it is something else? Did you discuss with dr. that you thought it wasnt? DId you ask dr. why they cat would have gotten it if he is indoors only and there are no other pets that you or anyone in the house comes into contact with? If you are concerned get a 2nd opinion fast!
