Vets across the country are anticipating calls and appointments with worries or concerns so do not hesitate to make an appointment if you think your cat has become ill due to the recalled food.
Signs to look for include vomiting, lethary, dehydration and fever. These are the most important as well as increased drinking, increased urination, avoidance of food and sudden weight loss.
Again, get your animal to the vet ASAP if anything out of the ordinary is occuring.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but wanted the most possible pet owners to see this. I saw this on another pet forum. There has been a huge recall of canned cat and dog food. Here is the link:

There is also an article about it on Yahoo.com under "More News". What scared me is in that article, it mentions that some of the foods recalled are Iams/Eukanuba brands.

Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
I just went to the Iams website and it has more information about this matter. Also, the manufacturer, Menu Foods, is supposed to have a complete listing of recalled foods on their website as of tomorrow morning (3/17).

Hope everyone's OK.....

Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
I can't believe the number of brands involved! The Iam's recall isn't even listed on the Menu Foods website (that's scarey!). Right now, I'm very glad I feed dry food.

Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
Yes, that's a LOT of foods for both cats and dogs. I top off the dry with a spoon of canned, but it's Blue Buffalo, thank goodness.
Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
Marty- that's what I do with Honey or she won't eat the dry food. I have been using Iams Lamb and Rice. Ironically I took back one of the recalled foods as I was going to spice up her routine and decided not to..thank God>
Well as for me am going to look for a people food substitute to make her dry food more attractive to her...maybe beef or chicken broth - but will see if I can find some with no sodium or very low sodium. Or if anyone has any other ideas... will gladly accept them...

Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
Menu Foods’ three U.S. and one Canadian factory produce more than 1 billion containers of wet pet food a year. The recall covers pet food made at company plants in Emporia, Kan., and Pennsauken, N.J., Henderson said.
This is from the msn report.
Also read that they used a new source of wheat gluten where they suspect the food originated.

Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
MomPaws, you could try plain yogurt or cottage cheese. I did that for a while, but I was always running out, and the canned I can just have on hand. Or you could boil up some chicken breasts and use that broth, but I'd shred the chicken and add that too. If you make enough, you can freeze it in small quantities. Throw in a carrot and celery. Thicken it a bit if you want. Just be careful not to put too much on her regular food.
Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
Thanks, Marty.. Good idea - the cottage cheese might work...and maybe just a little of my own dinner sometimes...she needs to be coaxed.

Check out Snopes' list if you're still wondering who's affected by the recall and who isn't. They've got a lot of good information there and what looks to be a complete list.
