Does anyone have any experience with this brand? I first noticed it in my vet's office but it's also sold at Petco & Petsmart. We're using Tidy Cats scoopable now and I can't stand the dust and smell -- even with the unscented.
Just wondering if this is any better.

I checked out Ever Clean's website and just came from Petsmart. There is a separate version of it that is cedar, I didn't read anything about every type of their litter containing cedar but will double check. I'm going to give it a try later tonight.

Cedar, chips, oils, etc are toxic to cats. According to their website, in the FAQ's, it says "some products may contain cedar".

I'll check the ingredients on the box before I use it to be sure. I'm not home now and the stuff is in my car.

For the same reason other things contain toxic substances, they either don't know any better, or don't care so they can sell the product.
I should probably mention here that even if the product says there may be cedar in it, it may be in such small amounts as to not actually be toxic (oil of cedar would be the most harmful). But, I'm always of the mind that manufacturers always have their "propriety ingredients" information unavailable to the public, so consumer beware.

I used ever clean litter prior to the fall of 2003 until Smokey was diagnosed with environmental asthma and I went on my neurotic search to get rid of everything in the house that may be environmentally toxic.
Although I loved the litter for years, it did end up being dusty and I did not like the smell. In addition, I was concerned that the makeup of the litter may be toxic. Also, the litter would stick to Smokey's paws and he was such a meticulous groomer, I became concerned that he was ingesting something that could be potentially harmful to him. Maybe they changed the formulation since then.
For the past 1.5 years, I've been using Simplicity Plus--the generic brand from Costco. It's pretty cheap, ~ $6.00 for 40 lbs. I really like it but I don't have as many furbabies as you but Smokey peed like a racehorse the last year of his life and it worked well with him. If you want to give it a try and don't have access to Costco, I'll help you out. Please let me know.

This time around...because I already bought it, carted 68 pounds of it a block home and up two flights of stairs...we're using it. I just did the boxes last night so it'll be good through the weekend.

He said they've had many a box blowout in the back room (from unloading I guess) and while cleaning didn't notice any perfumey smells. Not sure if he was just trying to push Petsmart brand or truly trying.
I'm a nut when it comes to shopping. I must have record speeds set for getting in and out of a store fast but when it comes to shopping for cat food or cat litter, I'm in turtle mode. I'll stare and stare and study and look like I'm waiting (or just wishing) for something to pop out and say ... HERE I'M THE BEST, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Oh man...forget this litter. I just scooped and the dust is UNBELIEVABLE! I'm sneezing my head off right now.
What about crystals only? I think I tried them once in the past (when I only had 1 cat) but got turned off by the looking at "yellow" crystals every time I passed the box. It's my understanding that you just scoop solid waste and leave the wet stuff to get evaporated? Is that right?
If I can't get this litter situation under control, my next step is to potty train!

Scooping the litter is THE most vile thing I've ever done, which includes changing many a poopy diaper. Even on string bean night, it's never as acrid and nauseating as litter box-cleaning is for me.
But then the cat meows at you and rubs up against your cheek, and it's all okay.
Still, litter is NASTY. I've given up on finding "the perfect litter." Whichever one is in the purple box, that's what I use. It doesn't stink, and it clumps reasonably. I pull my shirt over my mouth and nose to fend off the dust. I think it's Scoop-Away. Seems to clump the best as far as I've seen.
