STUPID PEOPLE!!

Post by JUDY S »

Most of the time I am proud to be a Canadian, but sometimes I wonder about the brains running the country. We just recently had a five year old killed by a pack of dogs on an indian reserve. Two were pets who were always tied up and not fed properly and the rest were strays.

Some towns in their infinite wisdom have now sactioned killing strays on reserves. One town is offering $15 for each stray dog killed. They don't care if this causes inhumane killings and suffering for animals. I just want to scream!!! But it won't do me any good.

People in my town are all up in arms about how all dogs on reserves should be killed. But do you think that would prompt them to fix their animals so as not to contribute to the problem. Of course not! And of course no one listens to me. I hate being the only one with half a brain.

Sorry for ranting, but I needed to get my anger off my chest.

The local or regional US Humane Society (or Canadian equivalent, RSPCA, etc) should be getting involved. There are programs too that vets can do spay/neuter clinics on the reservation to help educate the owners and community, and provide low-cost spay/neuter services to help the pets, whether stray or owned. Contact a local newstation to help in spreading the word that education/prevention is needed, to help in aiding the dogs on the reservation.

While I'm all for spaying and neutering to help control the pet population, I believe in snipping a few tubes as well in the human population. You know, to thin the stupid herd out.

This is heartwrenching for all involved. I hope some kind of civil resolution can be made.
