My Son ~ The Rescuer
Re: My Son ~ The Rescuer
the second pic, he has his mouth closes, laying upside down...as he tends to do alot... so you can sort of see how far inside his upper jaws his lower one is...his bottom jaw just seems to short...
just that none of our other dogs have such an overbite...
actually, Sammie has his lower teeth out in front of his upper teeth...that is why he always looks like he is smiling...
hubby has to go install a 3rd computer in the vet's office...they decided 2 is not enough now that they have gone technical...hahaha...and they wanted a separate printer hooked to it for printing the 6 part rabies forms...
so we will set up a time to get Squirt in with him again and get that checked...he is about old enough to neuter too...although his testicles have not dropped yet, that is how young he is...and his teeth are almost all the way in...but at least we can set an appointment for him...
he is growing in leaps and bounds and eating like a little piggy!!

I take it they found the AviMark docs? Btw, if your vet is a VIN or Noah member, he might get better support on their forums, as opposed to the link I gave you earlier.
Definately get him a new puppy exam, your vet can take a look and determine if he's growing "properly"....my guess is he is, but you just want to be sure.

yes...they are quite happy with the software, now that the girls have gone to the class and are figuring it all out!!
Squirt has gone for deworming, etc...but it is time to get everything else done...especially the neutering part....

Re: My Son ~ The Rescuer
He is a darlling puppy, and I love his name.
I wonder if someone abused him or he was hit by a car. How great that your son took him, so at least he's loved and protected.
Let us know how everything progresses at the vets and at home.

Re: My Son ~ The Rescuer
thanks Mona...
well...Squirt is learning about cats...I need to go mop the living room floor...blood splattered from one end to the other...
I guess Squirt was going after Skittles today...and Skittles cries out terribly if anohter cat even looks at her wrong...but when Skittles carried on so much, Sissy came to the recsue with fur puffed, back arched and claws flying and got Squirt good alongside the face...hubby said he saw it all happen too fast to intervene...and my son said he cleaned up the bigger pools of blood from the floor and couch...but he left the splatters for me to mop...
I checked his face and neck where my son said he got swatted, and I cannot see anything but will keep an eye for infection over the next few days...

Re: My Son ~ The Rescuer
here you go...some recent pics
Squirt when he first came to live with us in October
Squirt and hubby trying to nap lastnight
Squirt and Ceileigh sharing Squirt's bone
I was noticing the other night too, that right eye of his that droops...when light hits it, it does not dilate at all...so no wonder when he is outside in the morning and the sun shines in his face, that eye does not reflect the light back...I wonder how much he can see from it...
And the more I look at the scars on his head, 2 identical ones over each eye, same shape and size...even though they are further apart now that he is grown more...it really looks like someone took the claw end of a hammer to his head
Of course, we will never know and hopefully he has forgotten whatever happened to him before he came to live with us as he seems happy now...and is potty training really well...except when he is running around playing with Ceileigh and "forgets" he has to go and just runs a stream all through the house
lucky we have painted wood floors so easy to mop and clean up...
And mornings have been dry almost every day this week...so he is getting the hang of it!!

Re: My Son ~ The Rescuer
What does your vet say? Some optical problems can be surgically corrected, did the vet offer to discuss that possibility with you, or refer you to a veterinary opthamologist? I'd be a bit concerned since he's still a growing pup..if a corrective were possible, best to consider it when he's still a pup.

Re: My Son ~ The Rescuer
no, he has not suggested anything like that...but that is a good idea...I will talk with him this next week and see what he suggests...maybe we can do a neuter and eye at the same time...who knows...

Re: My Son ~ The Rescuer
Just to play devil's advocate with the intention of learning something, if he's not suffering or having trouble getting around, what's the point of putting him through surgery?
Re: My Son ~ The Rescuer
In the event the problem may worsen in time or create other problems. (i.e., atrophy, optical nerve problems, infection, etc). Not saying it has to be done, just saying there may be an option to correct the problem. The opthamologist needs to assess the structure to even determine if the condition is corrective or not.
