Huey's test results from yesterday.....

Post by Vicki »

His ECG was really good and had strong heartbeats.....his blood pressure was great......and his x-rays showed slight enlargement of one side of his heart. This enlargement didn't surprise me much since we know he had a heart mumur. The vet couldn't say for certain what is causing these little fainting/syncope episodes. He has referred me to a cardiologist to have an echocardiagram done on Huey. He kind of talked like it's a sudden drop in blood pressure that would cause Huey to collapse like he has. He also mentioned wearing a sort of monitor that I could push a button when Huey has an episode and it would record blood pressure, etc and I could give that info to the vet. It would help them know what exactly is happening when he has an episode. So, Huey isn't on any medicine right now and we try to keep him from getting over excited as much as possible. I'll call the cardiologist today and discuss things with him. Any thoughts from you folks would be appreciated. Thanks.....Vicki

Blood work results were all good too - he had that done last week. Guess I forgot to post that info.

Well, you're not really going to know anything until the echocardiogram.....the cardiologist is probably much more experienced than your primary vet and can probably tell you why the heart is enlarged, and if medication may be needed.
