Unexplained urination problems

Post by elanning »

Greetings;

I have two young female kittens, both are about 4 months old. Just this past night inside 12 hours i had two incidents of urination on my bed while i was asleep in it! I cannot be sure which cat it was or if each time was a separate cat. I am very confused, they have never done this before and have often slept on the bed with me, or napped on it when im not around. There has been no change that i have noticed in litter box use, and i made a search just to be sure but found no feces anywhere in the house. I realize this is probably a difficult question to answer, but can anyone offer any advice as to why all of a sudden, twice inside about 12 hours no less, my bed is urinated on? And secondly, what can i do to let them know this is not acceptable behavior? I have had some luck in training them not to hide behind the TV for example, but i dont want to send the message that they are not welcome in or around my bed, just that they shouldnt be using it as a bathroom.

Thank you ahead of time for any advice,

-Edward

Are they spayed?

I strongly advise you to get them both seen by your vet immediately for thorough exams and urinalyses, to rule out urinary tract infections or something else.

If your vet deems them perfectly healthy, investigate for possible stress factors (i.e., new things in the environment, recent changes in their routines or environment, your own routines etc.)
