Got the results in for Mr. Blue, and as usual I need help

Post by Mary Plummer »

understanding what they mean! My husband just came home wth our hound, and some vet results. I guess the ultrasound showed one of his kidneys as being very enlarged, two times or so what it should be. We've got a referral to a vat who specializes in this but, in the meantme, could someone tell me what this means for Mr. Blue? It sounds scary, without knowing any more.

Might be a kidney stone or infection (not necessarily urinary/bladder, but kidney infection)...what did the vet say about the ultrasound results? Did he rule out neoplasia?

No. I think our vet is waiting for the specialist for that. Neoplasia sounds like a cancer - is it?

Yes, but doesn't mean Mr Blue has cancer.

It could be renal impairment, or an infection, or a stone(s), etc. Hopefully the xrays/ultrasound ruled out any neoplasia.
