she won't stop meowing!
she won't stop meowing!
My FIXED just a yr old girl kitty is timid shy and stays away from situations she doesnt trust. if she walks outside she realizes it might not be good and runs in. But today she wont stop howling i mean its rare u hear a peep out of her and she mustve meowed 100 plus times today and is going to the windows and doors to do it! so i thought well lets see what happens i opened the door and she took off like ive never seen before! of course we grabbed her af ter a fight and took her in but she still meowed! its driving us crazy, she seems happy and is for sure fixwed we got her from the spca and she had the incision to prove it! oh there she goes again!......
Re: she won't stop meowing!
Stop letting her outdoors, keep her INDOORS ONLY.
Get her examined by your vet promptly, she may have an underlying health problem that can only be determined by your vet.

she is an indoor cat!!!!!! what i meant by saying she has gone outside before is only if we open the door and she gingerly steps out you know like a lot of cats do.we opened the door to try and determine if thats what she was crying about. i dont think my cat should be rushed to the vet because she appears to be wanting to go outside. i just wondered if there were others out there who had this problem.
That's the same thing as opening the door for her and letting her out. So, please stop doing that. As you witnessed, she bolted,... next time, she could be gone for good. If you don't take measures to train her not to hang around the doors, she will escape, don't think it won't happen, it happens every day.hayleym72 wrote:what i meant by saying she has gone outside before is only if we open the door and she gingerly steps out you know like a lot of cats do.
Other than a stray kitty outside nearby that could be causing her stress and the meowing, what else might it be? If she never displayed this behavior before, how do you know it's her wanting to go outside at all? Sudden changes in behavior usually always warrant a vet exam, to play it safe. We don't know what exactly is causing the meowing, or if it's serious or not, but if she hasn't been examined of late, why not get it done to play it safe?hayleym72 wrote:i dont think my cat should be rushed to the vet because she appears to be wanting to go outside.
When was she last examined? Did your own vet verify the spay scar? (I'm just asking)

Re: she won't stop meowing!
i suppose u have to see the way our house is built she wouldnt get further than the deck...she was last examined 3 mths ago not even and yes he verified she was spayed. i just went outside and she cried until i came back in and then stopped.
Re: she won't stop meowing!
Hayley, I just don't want to undermine the problem, it's impossible to know for certain anything from a post on a forum on the net.
She could be bored, she could be wanting attention and affection, or something could be stressing her, or she could be developing a health issue.
If the meowing and behavior continue tomorrow, and you can't discern if it's just her wanting attention and if nothing you do seems to help, then the logical thing to do is make a vet appointment for her.

Re: she won't stop meowing!
is she using the litterbox?...make sure she is and nothing is wrong there...
maybe she wants to go outside to get away from something inside that is bothering her?...has anything changed recently?...even as simple as rearranging the furniture?...sometimes they are funny about that too...
Is there a critter outside that she knows is there and is worried about?...stop and listen really carefully for a few minutes...step outside and listen...try to figure out if something outside is not right...maybe she is sensing something you are not...
if you really cannot find a logical explanation, I too would recommend a trip to the vet, just to make sure nothing is going on...she could have developed a UTI for all we know and that is causing her pain and distress...
