my cat had black stuff coming out of it's eyes and nose I took it to a vet and the vet said hat it had cat flu and gave it a dose of antibiotics. And it seemed to be getting better after that but recently I have noticed that it has now got a skin problem on it's chin and with every passing day it seems to be spreading it has also stopped eating which is very unusual as before it was always there when I was dishing up fod or anything .I have rung the vet and have made an appointment but I would be grateful if anybody could ease my frustration and give me some advice on this matter
thankyou animal lover.

When did he stop eating? Cats cannot go longer than 3 days without eating sufficiently, or their liver will be compromised. When is the appointment, it better be TODAY.
The upper respiratory infection was "diagnosed" over a month ago. Has it cleared up completely? Have you had your kitten back for a followup exam since then?
No way to know what the skin "condition" is without an exam. It could be anything from feline acne to eosinophilic granuloma complex, only your vet can determine with a proper exam.
What are you feeding your kitten now? Is it dry food or canned? Please also stay away from generic or lesser-quality brands.

Traci, we had a problem with Roxy developing canine acne on her chin and the vet prescribed an antiseptic wash and he said to avoid using plastic dishes/bowls for feeding. I did some research at the time and found that there are additives in plastic called anti-oxidants ( not the good kind) that are used to stabilize the plastic during manufacturing. These additives can leach out of plastic at a later date and get into water and food and can cause skin irritation and probably other problems as well. Make sense? We use ceramic dishes and bowls for our cats... just curious if plastic can have an ill affect on cats as well....Traci wrote: feline acne

Jim, we always advise stainless steel dishes, just for that reason. Plastic tends to harbor bacteria pretty easily (most common cause of feline acne). Glass and ceramic, if chipped or broken, can also have that effect.
