I'm sitting here on pins and needles waiting to hear
Mr. Blue's test results, and it's getting very uncomfortable They were supposed to be in yesterday, but my vet's office called and said the lab had let them know it would be another day. The samples get tested at MSU, and I hope they contact my vets soon! For better or worse, I just want to know what's going on with my blue-eyed pup. I've been reading about Cushing's online, and find it to be a really confusing disease. Davet and Traci, please tell me I'm not the only one who finds it this way (or maybe I am; it just seems like it is pretty tough to pin down).

Hope you hear something soon...waiting and not knowing is so hard.

Mary, don't jump the gun or make yourself sick from reading online. Your vet is your best advocate and best source for your questions, he's the only one who knows Mr Blue and his health history and current symptoms.
The difficult part is testing, if your vet is experienced, and since the tests were sent to MSU, you'll know one way or another. If one test is inconclusive, your vet may opt for another test to differentiate or confirm. He may yet want to differentiate and rule out things like diabetes, etc.
Yes, the disease is confusing, at first. I think it's confusing to owners mainly because there are three types/causes of the disease, and once it gets narrowed down by your vet, you'll understand it better. Your vet can probably explain it to you better, but the good news is that it is treatable and can be managed, providing that no other secondary health problem interferes with treatment. One step at a time, don't get discouraged.
Call your vet first thing in the morning and see if he can call back the lab at MSU for the results.

Hi, Mary - waiting is really tough,, I'm in waiting mode right now concerning some personal health issues and it's stressful and frustrating as you say. I hope you get Mr. Blue's problem accurately diagnosed very soon so you can help him. Give him a hug for me... Jim

Thanks everyone! I called yesterday afternoon, and the results weren't back yet. Traci, I decided to do exactly what you said and stopped reading about the disease online. It's confusing, and scary to me since I don't understand it. Marty and Jim, thanks so much for your good wishes. Jim, I hope you get your own situation resolved soon! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, too. I hope you're not in any danger from the fires out there.
Thanks in return, Mary... the fires aren't near us but when the winds are right ( or maybe wrong?) we get the fall out and effects of the smoke: ash snow and burning eyes and breathing problems. Not good for asthma people.Mary Plummer wrote: Jim, I hope you get your own situation resolved soon! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, too. Take care... hope all is well and that you find out about Mr. Blue soon...Jim

Hi momPaws,
Still no word. I called yesterday, and they said tomorrow at the latest. I know the MSU lab is very good, and they must be really busy.

OK, got some news on our pup. He doesn't have Cushings, which is good news. Bad news is that they don't know what is wrong. The next step, after he finishes his antibiotics, they're going to do X-rays and an ultrasound. So, I guess I stay on pins and needles for a while longer.

darn....well at least it is not Cushings, so you can breath easy there...but sitll...hos frustrating to still not know...
prayers they can find the cause and a solution soon!
