Will it never end..part2, but biscotti

Post by Marty »

I noticed she was acting funny today...like there was a storm, but there was nothing around. I narrowed it down to a front leg that was bothering her, so it was pain. Couldn't see anything or feel anything. I gave her half a rimadyl...didn't seem to help much.

DH came home, and with his help, we found that a toe seemed sensitive. She seemed to be dragging that foot just a little, which worries me because she had disc surgery 6 yrs ago.

It's not the Basset nails, as they were recently trimmed. She did find a toad in the backyard last night to bark at, but I don't think that is it.

I'll call her Vet tomorrow if it doesn't improve. Please excuse my sigh...

Is she normally on Rimadyl for any other condition? If not, don't take it upon yourself to self-dose with Rimadyl or other NSAID, especially without having a recent blood panel done prior. This should only be prescribed by your vet.

If you already called your vet and he said to do that, then disregard.

Some frogs and toads are really toxic, but I'd think she'd be displaying toxic effects by now if that were the case. Might be a sliver, embedded object, scrape or something but yes, best to have your vet take a look.

I expected that answer... :) She was given the rimadyl last year as a trial during a cold spell in GA for arthritis pain... I chose not to continue with it for now, as she has done OK since then. It's warm and dry here now. It also might be that she needs it now...We will find out.

Might be the cold front that was on the way and should have come through GA by now. Angel is very sensitive to cold fronts, although this one isn't packing enough punch this far south to affect her.

Could also be that the toenail got caught on something and 'pulled', or that she stepped on something that left a bruise or small puncture wound - all of these should be OK in a day or two.

Hope she's back to normal today!
