Swollen bottom lip

Post by otarap »

I'm going to call the vet when they open in a hour, but I was just curious as to what anyone thought about my cat. I woke up this morning and I noticed by cat's bottom lip was swollen. When I pull it down a little it looks a bit white, kind of like a canker sore. He seems totally fine. He's eating normally and very playful this morning. Anyone every experience this?
Thank you

It could be nearly anything, from feline acne to an eosinophilic (inflammatory) condition, only your vet can determine through an exam. Is he kept indoors only?

I once had a kitty who would occationally get a swollen bottom lip, it would usually appear after she went on a grooming escapade. The swelling would recede in a day or so.

In any event, speak to your vet.

hello,

my cat has had problems with the swollen bottom lip and it turned out to be from a gum infection. how are your cats teeth? i had my cats teeth cleaned and then gave him antibiotics for the gum infection and the swollen lip went away. this may be a possible culprit. good luck.
