Plants

Post by dancinbelle2001 »

I am going to the Farmer's Market this weekend and am planning on buying some herb plants. I'll be growing them outside on my balcony but when it's winter time I'll need to bring them in. Are there any plants that I should avoid because they are toxic (mainly herbs)? I tried to check out the article for poisonous plants before posting but I keep getting redirected and I can't seem to pull it up. Thanks!

hhmmm...the link worked for me...
try this
http://www.cathelp-online.com/emergency ... plants.php

and this list might be helpful too
http://mainecoonrescue.com/poison.html

I know garlic and onions and related plants are poisonous...cannot think of any others right now...
If you can, when you bring them in, put them in a room taht can be shut off from the cat, even if it is not convenient for you to go grab a cutting when you need it to cook...it can't be any worse than walking to the balcony, right?! :)

have fun at the amrket!!

You shouldn't consider any herb plant as safe for cats. Use caution with them just as you would other plants.

Keep them out of reach to cats, period. There's enough research to warn against them (human studies are constantly changing....new toxicities crop up every day).

Thank you! The links you gave me worked! I am not the best with computers. I'll make sure to keep the plants away from the cats.
