What does your vet say? Does he have any indication of what's going on? Is Winnie still jaundiced or is there any pallor to her coloring?

No jaundice, and her color is good. Her gums were pretty pale when I brought her in, but they are a good pink now. He said sometimes this happens for a reason we can't identify, but it was good that I got her in so quickly. That's all I know for now...it seemed to be very hectic in there today.

Sigh...we fed the dogs tonight, and Winnie didn't want to eat. She was laying by the patio door, shivering, as in pain (she did eat fine this morning). Called the Vet, but it was after hours, and got an answering service..sigh...but someone did get back to me. Fortunately it was the Vet I have been taking Biscotti to, and I like her.

She spent a lot of time talking to me, and I tried to give Winnie's history as briefly as I could. She suggested giving some Pepto Bismal ( during that time, she put on hold another call, saying she had an emergency..us!)...I wasn't too sure about that, but went out to get some...after a while, Win is resting comfortably now on her bed.

I'll call my Vet in the morning...and be checking on Win all night long...

Marty I am sorry Winnie has not been well.

I understand and sympathize with you on the emotional roller coaster and the lack of sleep. I will keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope Winnie continues to improve.

I took her into see my Vet this morning, as she refused to eat again. She was not in as much pain as the first time, but something was still clearly wrong. He redid the blood tests and kept her for the day for more fluid, vitamins, and another antibiotic shot. He didn't see too much change in the tests...lipase (?) is still pretty high, but coming down, RBC still low but going up.

We agreed that the only thing different was that he put her back on nitrofurantoin when she came home, and maybe it was upsetting her tummy. Because it is given every 8 hours, she didn't always get food with it, although the rx info said it didn't matter. So we will eliminate that until we get her over this hump.

Oh, she was hungry tonight, and doing her normal woo-wooing as I filled her bowl...obviously feeliing much better!

Sorry for the play-by-play info, but it helps me to type it out....

If another incident occurs, don't hesitate to get her back in promptly for more testing...assuming the blood values are getting closer to normal range, but if there are any GI tract symptoms, you might have to investigate further, more agressively.
