Thank you for the update, it's wonderful to hear she is doing so much better!
I'm curious about the hyperthyroidism, when first tested, was the thyroid unusually high? If so, I'd recommend testing that again, perhaps next month.

Re: Help:Senior Cat Question---Emergency Situation?
The emergency vet did bloodwork but didn't test the thyroid, so I'm not sure what led him to the diagnosis (& I may have just been burnt out from the ordeal and at 4am just misheard him saying she only probably has hyperthyroidism). The regular vet tested the thyroid and said it's functioning fine, but I think it's something she'll moniter from here on. Mokey's levels were much improved elsewhere, so I guess it was just a case of the emergency vet maybe assuming or suggesting that it was a strong possibility.

Ok, good. As long as she continues to do well, and no symptoms develop, you can probably wait until her next scheduled appointment to retest the thyroid.
I'm so happy to hear she's doing good, keep up the good work

I too have a kitty with hypertension and CRF.
My Wiggy is also on Norvasc, but we started him on a very low dose and his blood pressure has come down (can i mention the dosage Traci?) at his last check up he was in the high end of normal down from 210.
His kidney values are down, still out of normal, but they have remained stable for the past 6 months or so (his kidneys are handling the norvasc ok).
Wiggy also has cardiomyopothy (sp?) which makes things quite complicated, so his sub-q's are only 2x a week, but I also take notice of his water intake and how do I say, his meatyness? If he muscles dont feel spongy but more hard I know he needs more fluids.
These conditions are managable and I treat every day like it may be his last (hes 18 ) and give him all the love and attention he wants (my husband says I love him more.... and hes right!!)
Good Luck!!

Re: Help:Senior Cat Question---Emergency Situation?
Thanks, Traci and KB. I've been monitering my kitty, too, for food and water intake, litterbox, her weight (unfortunately, only by sight/feel since I don't have a scale in the house), and our vet told me to check her gums for changes from pink to white. Doing the sub-q helps with weight (it's easier when she's healthy, but she's always been small, around 5/6 lbs.).
I'm glad to hear, KB, that your kitty is doing well. I'm the same way with Mokey, in spending as much time with her as possible. That's another good thing that came out of the crisis: I thought for sure her days were numbered, but now we've been given a reprieve, so I'm trying to get the most out of our hanging out as I can.
