Ultrasound on Tuesday...
Ultrasound on Tuesday...
It isn't until 2:30, and Winnie isn't supposed to eat before it. Miss Piggy is going to be one unhappy dog. Unless someone has another idea, I guess all 3 dogs will go without breakfast. Oh, is she going to be mad at me...I planned that one wrong!
Re: Ultrasound on Tuesday...
without breakfast is not a big problem for man nor beast....but throwinfg up breakfast during acertain type of procedure can be rather traumatic, especially to the owner who. felt sorry for her dogs missing a meal..play it safe, they shall survive..I don;t know about you but I do know the pups will live through it
Re: Ultrasound on Tuesday...
good luck on the ultrasound...and the starving doggies...I can relate and empathize with you...
I will be doing that this week, with a houseful of cats, because I have 2 males that need to be neutered...

Good luck - let us know what they find (hopefully, not much!)
Food in the stomach could interfere with the vet's ability to really see what's going on. I know it'll be tough - been there - but, they'll get over it!

Here's to good results on Tuesday! Winnie may have forgotten this, but she is a predator and her digestive system was designed to go without food for quite long spells... However, I bet she will feel better about this if the rest of her pack goes hungry a few hours too. Good luck with all of it.

* A young man at Bellsouth Atlanta asked on the phone Friday: "Austin? Where is that?" He sounded like he was US but I thought after I replied rather tartly - he may've been overseas. And then I remembered also that there IS another Austin - in Minnesota... it is the "home" of a famous meat brand...Hormel maybe? Thinking of your puppers skipping breakfast reminded me of this...

Best of luck to you and Winnie tomorrow, Marty....
Re: Ultrasound on Tuesday...
Thanks for the good wishes...I'm just trying not to think about it too much for now. What will be will be...no sense in worrying yet.
LOL, Dot! I don't think Winnie forgot she is a predator...she made an excellent countersurfer up until a few years ago! No turkey was safe unwatched! Maybe she is too good! I know they'll survive this fasting, but I wish I had the foresight to make the appt in the morning...she forgot to tell me about the fasting and had to call me back. I'll put my blinders on and plug my ears!

Re: Ultrasound on Tuesday...
Well...good and bad...but to be honest, she is 12 and I guess I was thinking that anything could happen. Good news is no bladder stones! The lining appears thick, but probably because of 2 stone surgeries.
Bad news...there is a suspicious area on her spleen, about the size of a fingernail. There is another larger spot between a kidney and the liver. It did not look attached to the liver, but there is no telling.
As the Doc said, she can live without a spleen, and they can biopsy the other at the same time.
She will have a radiologist look at the pics, and will call my Vet tomorrow and discuss a treatment plan.
I was disappointed when they didn't say anything about me coming back there to watch, but after a while they came and said it would be easier to show me than to try to explain. Can I say how happy I was? I'm old enough never to have seen something like this, so although it took me a while, I did see the areas they were talking about.
