Okay...so most of you wonder why this is such a big deal...
Callie is my ever so picky cat that does not like the litterbox, or any kind of litter I have ever tried, or no litter, or newspaper, or paper towels...she USED to use the litterbox until we got Tiglet...then the kitchen floor was her preferred place to go, making me have to mop several times a day...
But...Tiglet has been in a new home for what...2-3 months now...and Callie still used the floor...
BUT...lastnight, after I changed out litterboxes (same litter I always use) and mopped the kitchen floor, I was in the dining room at the computer...I saw her out there wandering around...then I heard scratching...IN the litterbox...I resisted the urge to go peek around the corner...
Then I saw Callie walking away from the corner and I went to peek...there was a fresh poop in it!!!....I praised Callie bigtime for that...
And when I came down today...my kitchen floor was still clean...and I did not see any piddles or packages anywhere in the dining room or living room either, which means she must have used the litterbox....again!!!
Callie Used The Litterbox!!!!
Re: Callie Used The Litterbox!!!!
you sound klike a new mother who's kid first used the potty
Re: Callie Used The Litterbox!!!!
I understand perfectly and will keep some mental fingers crossed for you! If you don't mind saying, what kind (or kinds) of litter are you buying at present? I'm having a rather bad time here re litter boxes: Q - who is 12 now - has always been good about litter box use - and one of the reasons I chose young Pinto (besides that he's such an affectionate doll of a cat) was because his resume said he was 'housetrained' and he IS... but I just didn't realize what it would be like to have two cats in a little 2 BR 1 bath apartment... DD's cats have one large litter box in an attached (permanently closed-in)garage/laundry/storage area; there is a pet door in the door to the rest of the house... on her suggestion I've switched to scoopable litter too - my kitty boys don't seem to mind, but I'm not adjusting well ha ha... but don't think I can switch back to clay now. I have one box in a sink cabinet in the bathroom and another in a shallow closet of the 2nd bedrm - I think the main problem is I can't seem to get into the habit of scooping several times a day, and there probably isn't much anyone can do to help me with that, but any advice you can give me will be appreciated!
Re: Callie Used The Litterbox!!!!
In the corner of the kitchen, away from main traffic, and another right by the basement door (we need to step over it to go to the basement) I just use the Green box of scoopable litter from WalMart...
I also have a litter locker so it is easy to scoop the clumps into it and give it a turn, then empty it every so often...I just scoop some every time I go to throw something away in the kitchen garbage...
The box right by the basement door is the one Callie chose to use lastnight...
In the bathroom upstairs, I have Arm & Hammer Flushable litter and it is great...you just need to train yourself to scoop a couple clumps every time you go to the bathroom...I scoop, then wash my hands, because you need to let the clumps sit in the water for 30 seconds, then I flush...
I also scoop through all the boxes thoroughly every night before I go to bed...
