bug repeling shampoo...

at the hairdressers (Fantastic Sam's) they are selling a new shampoo that is formulated with witch hazel ..they claim that it repels- mosquitos, black flies, bees, (lice- ick)..etc. it is actually for kids so that if a kid is class gets those awful 'cooties' - then by using that shampoo on your kids hair it protects them...
The question is - if this actually works...would it be something to use on a dog to protect them from insects...opinions accepted gladly...
