Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
You might spend some time with the various links on the site here, for example, this link answers your question about when kitten's open their eyes.
The spaying fee the HS quoted you is actually not bad. Vets charge anywhere from $50-100 depending on the clinic, the pet's gender, nursing and aftercare, and/or pain medication injection. I would strongly suggest you get her spayed by a competent vet who has nursing staff to monitor her for several hours after awakening after anesthesia. You also need to inform the vet kitty will remain outdoors, so that he can then determine if absorbable sutures would be more prudent as opposed to regular sutures that would need to be removed 7 days after surgery. Someone needs to monitor kitty after her surgery, for at least 5-7 days after the surgery, to monitor for infection at the suture site, hernia development, or sutures coming undone. You need to take all of this into consideration.
The important thing is getting her spayed promptly. She can become pregnant again any day if she is allowed outdoors. Likewise, if you spay her right away, you have to ensure her kittens are kept with her. They should be taken with her to the vet for nursing care while kitty is being spayed. Your vet will determine when mother is recovered enough to resume nursing her kittens and for other care instructions.

I don't know where you live but I'm in a more rural area and the humane society in my ara provide help to low income households for spay and neutering. Also there are organizations that help with the cost, and some clinics specifically for spay and neutering is relatively cheaper than your average vet. There are three vet clinics in my area and the cheapest vet is 45.00 dollars for spaying or neutering. 64.00 for a female and the other is 130.00 plus 30.00 for her shots before they will even operate. It can get expensive but it needs to be done ASAP, before it gets out of hand. I know you can start a cat farm before you even know it. Right now you have 6 kittens, which I hope you can find good homes for. At least three of them are probably female, (unless you got lucky) before you even realize it you could have 60 cats before the year is over. (I'm trying the scare tactic.) Have a yard sale, bake sale, sale something just get the money and get her fixed. :D

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
Not that this has much to do with the conversation, but when my vet told me she wanted $410 to spay Izzy, I laughed out loud. And immediately found a new vet.

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
i found that the cheapest place was $12 for rabies shot (which for obvious reasons is required) and then $30 for the spaye but can't get me in til august (this is my vet, crazy isn't it)!! so i think i am going to take tiger to get her rabies shot there and get her checked out again and then take her to the humane society and get her spayde! i think i have 3 males and 3 females (one quiestionable female)! and so far have REALLY GREAT homes for 3 or 4 (my mom, a friend, myself and possibly sister)! so i need to come up with two more homes and i am sure that i will cause i have weeks til i have to give them up (just need to get the word out more)! the only problem that i am coming across is my kitty peaches (she is freaking out on me, she is so mad at me)! i have no idea what to do with her, she won't let me touch her and she gets so mad at me when i get near her! i am a little lost there, keep in mind i have had her since she was probably about 2 weeks old or so and she thinks that she is the queen of the house and in all honesty she is! so i am looking around the net and trying to figure out how to make this easier on peaches so any more advice ya'll can give would be great!!!

There's something very wrong with this picture. I find it incredibly hard to believe a vet is "booked" for spays until August.peachesmommy wrote:i found that the cheapest place was $12 for rabies shot (which for obvious reasons is required) and then $30 for the spaye but can't get me in til august (this is my vet, crazy isn't it)!!

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
Peaches will be angry, any time a new cat shows up on my door step she there are a few who just won't have anything to do with me for a while. Especially my precious, she gets mad turns her nose up at me a tears at the living room rug with a firey passion. As for the vet being booked til August, I believe it. Especially if your vet will spay her for 30.00. That must be the cheapest in the area and everyone wants a spot. I know the vet in my area who "fixes" cheapest ($45.00) used to be booked for months and months and months. Oh those months with my girls locked in doors schreeching to get out. But now he doesn't book in advance and it is a lot easier to get them in.
