She was planning on taking her in to get spay but before we had a chance she started getting big so mom thought she was pregnant and you can't get them spay if they're pregnant right? Well turn out she wasn't actually pregnant that time...mom made an appoinment but before the appoinment we found out she WAS pregnant...for real this time...so as soon as the kittens are done nursing I plan to MAKE mom take them all in...it's the best I can do because we can get Pudge spay and get a general checkup for her and the babies...I know it's not the best situation...and I keep making references to it being her fault because she was the one who told us never to let her outside...but if she ran out on me I went and brought her back in but mom always let her sneak out and didn't bring her back in...so that's why I blame her
and sorry about the two thread I just didn't know if I should put it in this one or a new one because it's a different problem.....sorry again
Mother biting kittens don't know what to do
Re: Mother biting kittens don't know what to do
If your mom thought kitty was pregnant the first time, she should have taken her to the vet then and there for confirmation, and then a spay appointment. After she found out she was pregnant...if it was early term, then she could have been safely spayed.
You realize, the nursing stage will last up to 12 weeks or more. Don't wait for them to "finish" nursing, they and the mother can be checked by your vet any time...you need to determine that both mother and babies are healthy: that the mother has sufficient milk production, is eating a high quality food, is maintaining weight, does not have parasites, should be tested for FELV/FIV, etc....and that the babies are gaining weight, maintaining their weight weekly, are nursing sufficiently, are developing properly, etc....all of which can be determined upon a vet exam. Your vet probably won't even charge you for examining the kittens, he may only charge a flat exam fee. Mother and babies should be taken together to the vet, in one carrier.

I'll talk to my mom about it I've tried before and she says she'll make appointments but she never does..and I would take them in but I 1) don't have a job 2) don't have a car so I can't even take them in and have her pay for it...but I'll find some way to make her take them in...it's the best I can do at the moment

Hey Autumn! I just wanted to suggest that if you can't afford to have the cats spayed/nuetered you might want to check with your local animal shelter. Alot of shelters offer free or at least at cost spay and nueter procedures and some even offer cheaper rates on vaccinations and deworming. Good luck!
