and in the last 6 months, her cataracts have progressed quite a bit. The anti-inflammatory eye drops are increased to 3X daily....and she would like our Vet do bloodwork to rule out diabetic cataracts...which she doesn't think it is. She says that now, she doesn't think Java can see anything.
That is OK, as she gets around well in our home, but I did notice that today, in different surroundings, I had to guide her around obstacles more than before.
She was so-o-o good...letting them do their stuff. A senior student took her chin in her hand, and said "You have to have a chat with some of my other patients!"
She will get a special supper tonight....
Sigh...Java went back to the ophthalmologist today...
Re: Sigh...Java went back to the ophthalmologist today...
one thing you have to be sure of is that the dog will have vision after surgery...I did a few cataracs and they mostly worked out but once or twice some of the dogs had no vision after removal......I obviously was not an opthalmologist so id di not know how to determine that before had, so that might be a consideration...Also i had many blind patients who seemd to enjoy life as well as the seeing one.. they would chace balls that had a sound in them...get around the yard andhouses fine...be sure an opthalmologist checks the eye before any surgery.
