Sammie's Surgery
Re: Sammie's Surgery
Yeah, but then you'd have to use the tractor (not the new one, the old one, the one with a clutch) to drag it out of the field.
Glad you haven't lost your sense of humor through all this, LOL

Re: Sammie's Surgery
hahaha...it takes alot for me to lose my sense of humour...I may cry and get frustrated...but I bounce back...
and you should have seen the ANCIENT Masey Furgeson tractor I used to drive...
If the truth be told...I can drive a standard, if I have to, I just don't like to!!!
You should have seen one night though...my husband was bowling and my son and I had to go into town...well, the only vehicle here was my husband's truck...a standard...he had taken my car...so my son and I drove together...he was not old enough to drive, so I drove, he told me when to step on the clutch and he would shift...and that is how we drove all the way down the highway and into town...hahaha

Well, I'm glad I could make you laugh so hard....
Re: Sammie's Surgery
WHOOO HOOO!!!
Lastnight was MUCH better...Sammie held his urine all night long and waited til they took him outside to go potty...and he is showing movement in BOTH hind legs...
At this point, the vet on duty is thinking he will be able to come home this weekend, but she wants to consult with the nuerosurgeon/instructor before actually releasing him...
They are FAXing information for us to have to bring back down when we pick him up...I hope them letting us set up payments will not be based on our credit history...with a divorce, loss of job, illnesses, etc over the last few years, it really took a toll, so the numbers look bad, even though we have been working on getting it back into line again...it takes a long time...
We will know more tonight at the 8:00pm call, and probably...hopefully...be on the road all day tomorrow

Re: Sammie's Surgery
That is great news, Tambrey!
I don't like standards, either, although I can do it if I HAVE to.
Unless things have changed in the 6 years since Biscotti's surgery, you will still have to keep him quiet for about 6 weeks. We put her crate in the middle of the family room floor, where she could still feel part of the family. She adjusted to that very well, and like I said, her recovery was almost 100%.

Re: Sammie's Surgery
thanks Marty...we have his crate in the living room...but it is so drafty in this old house, even with plastic on windows and all that...I am looking for a safe way to raise it a bit, or may get a baby crib bumper to wrap around it to keep the chill off...
I am pretty sure we will have to keep him kenneled for 6 weeks or so...
We have a regular bed pillow in the crate for him to lay on...all the crates we could find around here had the door about 6 inches from the floor...so we figured the pillow will raise him closer to the door, and be softer for him to lay on...However, the kennel is also neat in that it has the regular front door, but also a side door, to make it easier to lift his longer body in and out of it...
but I am not sure if that the softer pillow what he should lay on or not...it is nice and soft, but should he have something more firm to support his back a bit?...Questions to ask when we go pick him up...

Re: Sammie's Surgery
We got an orthopedic foam mattress topper from Walmart and cut it to fit the crate. Maybe you could use 2 layers to fit your pillowcase. A lot of people cover the crate at night, so maybe you could do that with a blanket...just leave one side open for air circulation.
Re: Sammie's Surgery
The foam matress covers Marty is talking about are great for recovery....like an eggshell foam mattress (you can place a blanket or pillow on top if you want)
I doubt that they would check into your credit history...they will probably give you a standard form with general information for you to fill out and payment arrangement dates, etc...probably nothing more than that.

Re: Sammie's Surgery
thanks girls...we will stop at WalMart on the way and get one of those foam pads....hhhmmmm....my husband gets computer parts shipped to him all the time and most of them come in boxes with eggcrate foam around them...I wonder if he has a box up there about the same size as the crate that I can steal some foam from....then we would not have to be getting a big piece and cutting it down...
I hope that is all it is for payments...and as soon as we get our taxes back, we hope to pay this off anyways...we go at 4:30 this afternoon to get them doen, and I pray it is a decent return this time...
