Can you name at least one weird thing that your cat(s) do

Post by Auntie Debbie »

Can you name at least one weird thing that your cat(s) do that you'll bet no other cat does?

Gracie will knead the pillow while hovering over my head.
I usually sleep with the pillow wedged between an outstretched arm and my head. She will approach my head like someone at a gym would approach an exercise bike (I've never been to one, but I've seen it done on TV). She will stand over my head and begin to knead the pillow. Once she gets that going, she places her feet on my neck and shoulders and works her feet like she's peddling a bike, while kneading the pillow with her torso over my head. When she's done, she dismounts and simply walks away. Not even so much as a "I'll call ya." She does give a pretty good neck and shoulder massage with her feet, LOL!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

I wish I had a cat that gave massages...how lucky of you...

My Sarah loves to lick plastic bags...she does not eat them or chew on them...just lick lick lick...and hearing a plastic bag rattle is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me...it will wake me from a dead sleep and I have to go find the bag and take it away from her...it does not matter if it is a grocery bag with stuff in it, or plastic wrap from something we bought, or the bit of plastic that sticks over the top of the garbage can...if it is plastic, she will be licking it...
Sarah also plays fetch, but not so often now that she is getting older...

My Baby Roo is just that...a baby...he likes to be held on my hip like a baby and bury his head under my chin...or if I hold him in my arms on his back, he will grab ahold of my hand and suck, not bite, on my fingers...he is also my biggest cat...when his rump is on my hips, his head is under my chin...and he is usually still curled up a bit...

I cannot think of anything strange that any of the others do...if I do, I will come back and post...

My cat Spike will go up to hard flat surfaces (usually glass, but wood will do, too). The he just starts pawing, like he's sharpening his claws. Really fast, just pawing away at the glass.

Captain Hook will be sitting around in the middle of the room and all of a sudden look around and up like he sees something. Then he'll let out a little meow and jump about three feet up in the air, attacking whatever imaginary thing he sees. None of my other cats see these things, nor do I....

Ah - a cat like my Allie!! I have a dog that does the same thing, except that she stares forward and growls. She's done that ever since we got her when she was 8 weeks old. Allie was born deaf, and has always been more sensitive to her environment than the other dogs. We've always said that she sees ghosts when she does it. The 'presence' can awaken her from a sound sleep, but she also does it when she's wide awake. Skeptic put something similar in a post, and if I remember correctly, he said that dogs see angels when they do that. If dogs see angels, are cats seeing demons?

Tambrey remined me of a cat we had that liked to lick lace, only lace. She would do that for hours...weird!
Another cat liked olives (imagine!) ...she would lick the olive, but not bite it...like a kid licking a lollipop. And also a strawberry.
Cats are very interesting little creatures..love them! Honey and I used to have 2 cats. She used to herd them  (She's part border collie)

Just to annoy my husband, Topper will sit on the back of the couch and put her nose on his bald spot. Or she'll drop her tail down and brush his ear with it.

My Mitzi likes the plastic krinkly shrink wraps that are around a container. Whenever she hears it, she comes running and chirping. I have to be sure to peel it off in one piece otherwise it's useless to her.

My Simon gives good neck and back rubs with his paws too. He's a hefty boy so it works. I just have to train him for a minute or two more!

My Carly will cry and cry and meow for no reason except for me to take a nap with her. Obviously this doesn't work well when I'm headed out the door or not in need of a nap but all I have to do is sit with her for 5 minutes and she's content. Just like a kid!

You have a chirper, too? Topper chirps when she's eating.

one of my two cats dragged a whole loaf of bread from my kitchen to a bedroom in the back of the house, and started tearing open the bag a little bit. I know which one it was because he the only one that will go on the counter.

That same cat jumped on the counter, went in the sink, grabbed a steak knife in his teeth, and dragged it in that back bedroom. I was on my computer and saw him parading it around. Thank god he didnt hurt himself. From now on all utensils go in the dishwasher as soon as were done using them.

I dont know what to do to keep him off of my counters. I bough them a cat tree. It helped but not completely. He knows hes not supposed to be on there because as soon as he hears me walking down the hallway i hear a loud thump from him jumping off of the counters.

cute pictures....is there any way to make them a bit smaller for those who use dial-up? Thanks

To keep them off of the counters, I actually spent money on something called Ssscat...it gives a warning whistle then a spray of canned air...it seems to work...I also had a vet tell me to get some of the plastic carpet runner stuff you put down to protect your carpets, the kind with the little nubbies on the back, and put that on the counter with the nubbies facing up...It cannot hurt them, but the nubbies are very uncomfortable to try to walk on...
I have not tried that one yet...but I do have some of that upstairs in a spare room...if they continue to get on the counter, I just may try it...
