remember me? my kitten zim was sick and depressed? well i wanted to give you all an update. zim is doing wonderfully. i'm taking him in for his last distemper booster in feb and he is getting so big!
but i did have a question. i brought zim home in late november and there is still a bit of hostility between him and my older cat. they play alot, but it seems like he is playing and she is defending herself. she growls at him constantly. she doesn't hiss anymore. but sometimes he is just walking by her and she is grumbling at him.
should i just give them more time? could she maybe be grouchy because she had to get amoxicilin drops for 2 weeks for her cold and now she is getting ear drops for an ear infection? so maybe she is just annoyed in general?
hi all!
Re: hi all!
Without knowing how you handled the introductory stage between them, it's impossible to say.
If your female is being treated for certain conditions, then yes, she could be stressed and wants to be left alone. If this is the case, then try diverting kitten's attention to something else, like playtime, etc. If he is unusually agressive toward her, intimidates her or stalks her, then you need to teach him this is unacceptable behavior. In these cases, give him a temporary time-out in a closed room for about 10 minutes at a time. He needs to learn the unacceptable behavior isn't going to earn him any rewards.
Is he neutered yet?

Re: hi all!
yes he is neutred. although he seems to go after her a little more than the other way around, i have noticed that he will be just walking by her and she will smack him. i have never seen her interact with another cat before, so she could be playing. but she growls and grumbles and he makes no noise whatsoever. the fighting is not constant. they are perfectly content sharing a bed and night time, sharing the couch with us while we're watching tv... morgan on my lap and zim on my bf's. they just have their little tiffs when say morgan is minding her own business and her tail catches his eye... and he attacks. they are not too rough. it's just her growling that concerns me.
