My Tiglet Has a New Home
My Tiglet Has a New Home
As many know...I foster ferals, tame them, get them up on shots and spay/neuter...all at my own expense...and right now I am up to 11 in the main house, plus a momma and 3 babies in a spare bedroom...I am at my limit and seriously looking for homes for about half of my beloved babies...thig is I a soooo picky!!
However, I did find a family that I think will be perfect for my Tiglet...they have a little male cat they rescued the day after Halloween...he is now indoor only and will never go outside again, and the love of the family...but she said he is lonely, and I think Tiglet would be perfect for them because she is my mothering cat...she takes to every cat easily, grooms everyone, yet she also loves to sit on a lap and purrrrr and be petted herself...
So tomorrow night, we will deliver Tiglet to her new forever home...
I feel that I am doing the right thing with Tiglet...this family feels like a good fit...

Re: My Tiglet Has a New Home
yes it is...and I am sure I will cry...even though I knew she was not going to be here forever...I have still had her for 2 years now...I did tell her she is slightly asthmatic and humid summer days bother her, but as long as she has an A/C or fan, and a quiet place to lay, she is fine...I just keep her more confined on those days so she does not wan to run around...

Re: My Tiglet Has a New Home
I hope you're feeling better by now! And congrats on finding a home for Tiglet. I know how hard it is to give a kitty to a total stranger...only did it once with a feral kitten a couple of months ago, met the people and approved of them. I worked with an rescue group and they let me show him at Petco on adoption day.
But initially I worked PetFinder and one group emailed me an application and things to look out for when adopting out. If you are interested in what they sent me, I would gladly email them to you. Please let me know if you are interested and I hope you will find terrific homes for those you are looking to have adopted!

Re: My Tiglet Has a New Home
I notice you like Pooh I had a cat years ago named Tigger, and when Tiglet came into our home...she reminded me so much of him, but being a girl, I decided Tiglet would be cute...
I also have a Baby Roo, but he is in his forever home...I could not give that baby up...
it is hard enough giving some of them up...but I know it is right for them...and for me...as long as I know the family will be good to them...Tiglet is the first one I will have adopted out...of ones I have had a long time and grown to love...

Re: My Tiglet Has a New Home
Tambrey, you might want to advise the new owner to get Tiglet checked regularly by their vet to watch for any developments with her asthma (also give them tips to keep the environment free from pollens, smoke, dust, etc).
I know this is hard for you, you've given them all a wonderful start in life, I hope Tiglet's new owner will be as great as you...

Re: My Tiglet Has a New Home
Congrats on the adoption of Tiglet, Tambrey. I'm about to part with my latest 2 saves, Max & Riley, and am already becoming heartbroken.
These two brothers were the last from a litter of 5 I found over the summer. Riley was so affectionate and not a problem to pet and pick up. Max on the other hand, couldn't even eat with you around. As soon as I took a step in whatever direction, he bolted. I was finally able to coax them both inside the back room of our store away from a HUGE raccoon that was feasting on their kibble. 8 hours later and out of the rafters where Max took off to, they were at the vets and situated with shots, neutering, etc. All at my expense, just like you. They've been home with me and my brood now and it took a lot of patience and time but Max has slowly come out of his shell. In fact, the vet initially suggested he was too feral to tame and to just put him back outside. I scoffed of course. By the second day home, he was eating out of my hand and now, two months later, I am able to pick him up and trim his claws.
Anyway, like Auntie Debbie, I am working with two local rescue groups and Petfinder. We're waiting to hear back from a couple who was interested in the two. They also gave me a list of tips as well as questions and guidelines to follow when adopting out.

Tambrey,
Oh yes, I love Pooh and the whole Christopher Robin poems. Winnie the Pooh was the first real book I read and I loved it!
Fuuny, I googled the real Christopher Robin and one site said he really doesn't like being linked to the poems and books. Too bad, they were great!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
