Long story but it good and sad
We got 10 wild or more wild cats. I have been taking care of kittens who mother have left them. I was 16 and I have been doing it for 3 years. Well the first time I took care the kitten was day to 5 days because kitten eyes never open. We have been hearing kitten crying for mom. I was worry but I wait 4 hours for mother to come back and get kitten and mother never did... I got a box and heating pad but it was on low so kitten wont get burn. I fed him but he died on the same day because my dog kill him but she was so curious I think she want to be mother because of crying... He was still breathing and I was crying and I got a towel and then I saw him to take a last breath and my parents was trying to make me feel better but I was so mad at the dog I blame her and I know it wasn’t her fault and I made my dad to dug a hole for him which I call him "hope" I just thought it was good name. I was sad for a week because I blame myself for leaving kitten alone but it was tall box so she cant get him but it was too late.
The second time was that My friend was living with me. Well my parents and I went to vacation to Florida for a week.... I told her to give cat food to outside (wild cats) and then my friends told me while I was still in Florida that she took 4 kittens inside because mother left them. I knew she was lying because mother would not left 4 kitten. But anyway when I got home I kept seeing a cat sitting by window (she was pregnant before I left and she was 2 times mother) and I knew that she want kittens back but she already got human scents on kittens so I couldn’t let them go outside because of scent. So she said that she use straw to give kitten a milk (the one we drink) and she go hours without giving them milk even kittens was crying and she never clean them and she was gone for 2 days without someone to feed kittens and I was surprised that 4 kittens live because of milk, never clean, and was gone 2 days. I was so mad at her and I left to go store to get bottles and kitten milk. So I got home I touch their skin and pull up and it never went down so I had to hurry to give them milk then clean them. They was doing good. Until 3 weeks later I feed the kittens before I left to go shop with friend for 2 hours and I got home and I has a weird feeling and I went to my room 3 kittens was doing good but one was not so good 3 kittens was sitting on him and I thought he was dead so I pick him up and I was thinking please don’t die and I remember 1st year and I can feel his heartbeat and still breathing so I was crying and I made my parents call the vet and I put him down on counter and I put him on top of towel and he couldn’t get up and he was looking at me and he kept meowing at me and I was praying to let him live and I got a two hot bottle with towels over bottles to keep him warm. So we drove to vet and I remember it was after 10 and it was emergency so I had to pay 100 dollar for emergency and the vet said don’t keep your hope up and that he think he will die because of virus and the way he was doing and look. I couldn’t take it so I broke down crying and my parents was holding me and the vet said that he was sorry and he will do everything he can save him…So we came home and I went to check on kittens and they are okay and I had to tell them that he might not survive It was next morning so I call vet at 7 (that the time they open) he still survive and they had to tube him to feed him because he wont eat and they had to keep him warm. So I ask when can he come home? They said they want to keep him another night. I said okay thank you so much to save him and they said no problem just call back later. So I feed them and I call them noon and I know it was annoying since I just call them and they told me everything was going good and they think I can take him home tomorrow and I said what time. They said anytime was good. So I woke up next day I left at noon to pick him up so I brought him home I got another box for him so 3 kittens wont sit on him and plus he is a runt ( I could tell he is smaller then 3 kittens) and I just didn’t want it to happen again. His name is Lucky. Because he is lucky to survive and plus vet said the chance of him to survive is 20%. So I thought it was good name for him… It was few days later and it was in morning and I feed baby (other kitten name) and I put her on counter while I was trying to get cotton ball wet and I was trying keeping eyes on her and I wasn’t fast enough to stop her from falling because she was walking toward to me and she fall before I could stop her and I was crying and baby was crying and meowing and I told mom I want to take her to vet but mom said no because baby is fine and she just hurt and she stop crying when I was asking mom for vet… Well She was okay and I was holding her for hour. And I just felt like I am a bad mother because of 1st year and now this year. At 4 weeks I knew it was time for them to eat solid food but I mix kitten milk and crunch food so they can get used to eating harder food well Lucky and Trouble wont eat it. But lucky tried to eat it but it was making him choke so I made him wait couple days to try again and he did it But trouble wont eat it. She very stubborn. It was 6th weeks when she try it and she like it. All 4 of them get very messing since they get feet and fur dirty but it was funny. So I get them dry up when they done eating. Well it was 12th weeks and I kept trying to put it off and it work until 15th weeks when dad made me to get rid of them. I have 3 adult male cats. And dad told me I can only keep two. I know it was very stupid of me to pick two kittens. Her name is Baby and trouble. Yes Baby head injury was fine. You know something even year later I am still depressed and regret about my decision but I don’t think I can give my cats up again. Cuz I knew if I do it again I will still be even more depressed. So I told my self and say I will never give my cats up if I had to take care of kittens and It work I never gave my cats up. All my 3 adult cats got adopt 3 days after animal pound (no-kill) part was the reason they were fix and declaw and that why they got adopt so fast and kittens got adopt 3 days later but they had to go hold for 3 days to make sure there no disease or something like that. I wish I never got my adult cats declaw when I found out about soft paws and I wish I knew about it before I got adult cats declaws and vet never told me about soft paws. Well I hope you like this story even though it horrible that i went though with kittens. But Sorry if the sentence is not complete and i know alot of my teachers told me to make sentences complete and part was that i am deaf so it harder to get sentences sound right and complete.

sounds like lots of cat troubles for you during your lifetime...
You still have the 2 cats then?...do you have all the other ferals too still?!...
BTW...my husband is hearing impaired, even though he can still hear right now...we have lots of deaf friends, and they all write the same way

Re: Long story but it good and sad
Yea I still have two cats. Yea i still have wild cats one is pregnant and hopefully she wont leave one kitten alone. So I am trying to get them tamed by outside so i can able to get them when they have problem ( I try to get one cat who has eye pop out but i couldnt catch him because some one kill him and i found him laying dead which made me cry.) I still try to rescue some stray cats and try to find good homes. Yea I had alot of cat problem back then but some turn good and bad. I dont really have many deaf friends just one we still friends..... But mostly I had alot of hearing friends and just treated me one of hearing friends even tho they dont forget to look at me since i am lip reading and I had to remind them and they said oh I forgot your deaf and we just laugh..... But anyway part of the reason i was trying to help and it kinda made me want to be Vet Tech so i wont put animals to sleep.
Re: Long story but it good and sad
It is hard to try to save them all...we have many ferals here too and I am forever bringing in rescues and saving babies...and hoding them as they cross over the Rainbow Bridge...it is never easy...
But when they get big enough and you find them a new home, then it is wonderful!
Have you looked into your options for becoming a vet tech? And since you lip read, you would do okay in an office, but you would also be there for those hearing impaired owners and be able to better communicate with them during stressful times...

Yea i have look into option. I am planning to go college for vet tech there is two college one is in minnesota and Colorado. Yea I can able to help hearing imp and they can able to ask help when some hearing people just try to help but there are some vets do get annoying when deaf ask them to repeat and vet just sometime get annoying.
Re: Long story but it good and sad
That is where you would be there to help the people at the clinic you practiced in...
I hope you continue to pursue your dreams...become a vet tech and save all the animals that you can....but of course you do realize, still, they cannot all be saved sometimes the choice has to be made...and it might be you as the tech, leading that critter on their final journey...but at last you will give love and comfort...

Another good luck on fulfilling your dream. We save what we can and cry for those we can't.
Re: Long story but it good and sad
I would suggest that you do not take in any more cats or kittens, until you are familiar with, and are educated in feline health and behavior and their needs. Raising orphaned kittens requires skill, experience and regular vet checks to ensure their optimal health. If the outdoor cats are spayed and neutered and properly vetted, then the lost, mained, hurt, diseased, killed kittens' situations would be prevented. Pregnant cats require special care and regular veterinary checkups to ensure that both mother and unborn kittens are healthy and not subject to complications during delivery, nursing, etc.
Perhaps find a reputable rescue organization in your area who provides rescue, help and homes for the cats, not a shelter. Rescue organizations are skilled and experienced in trapping, rescuing and providing them vet care as needed, and usually have resources to either temporarily foster or find acceptable homes for them.
If you have a dog who kills cats, you are not in the position to be caring for kittens and cats, they can't defend themselves against dogs. Outdoor kittens and cats are susceptible to various Outdoor Hazards, your dog is just one of those hazards.
Please take the time to look around the site here (links on left of screen) and familiarize yourself with kitten and cat care and welfare. Please take the time to find rescue organizations and kitty foster parents in your area who are experienced and may be able to offer help. These kittens and cats are depending on it.

Re: Long story but it good and sad
I have been doing it for 4 years since I was 15 years old. And plus I have cousin who is Vet. If i have any question I can always call to vet or look up online. I have been learning since I was 12. That why I am planning to become Vet tech and I would want to go for Vet but since there is surgery (that has mask where i cant read lip). I do know how to take care of kittens and I do know what their needs, health, and behavior and also i do take to vet when their is emergency and I cant afford to get them check up since I am only minor and I have to pay money and I have to work for money and all my money goes to outside wild cats and inside cats. I have to buy litters, food, Vet, outside cats I have to go to town and get cat food once a week and I brought heated water with plug and it cost alot of money. I have use trap with food inside but i have catch 3 cats and they start to know what is it so they stop going there. I just cant leave kitten outside where wild cats kill it and mother just left them cuz mother think there something wrong with kitten or not ready. The pregnant cats are wild they not used to people. If I were to catch pregnant they will bite and I can get rabies. I do give them shelter with food and water that the best i can do. We dont have no rescue organization around here and I have check phone book and there is none. I am from small town. If i would to call animal control to take kitten and they are not going take care of it not the way I have done. I have cats who live with me with dog. The only reason she is small dog and hearing noise from crying and she thought she is a mother. I didnt make complete whole story or otherwise it would be too long. And I am sorry if you dont like it and you dont have to be mean well it just the way you write and if you not then it alright and i know you trying to help and I know kitten cant defend themselves and the dog push the box down and the dog grab neck just the mother but expect the difference is they different animals. did you see the outside cats that i said "WILD"? I am also trying to get them to let me to pet them, To earn their trust so I can able to take them to vet but since i cant and I am not gonna grab them where the highly likely to get bite where they might have diseases or rabies. Sorry if this sound like I am trying to be mean but I am not. I am just trying to tell you I am Trying but it is up to god if they would like wild cat to come over to other side or stay or god want the kitten to come or stay. I have took care over 10 kittens and i only lost one and my dog didnt kill my other kittens and I put kittens in my room with door shut cuz I have cats so I dont allow them to go my room where if the kittens are in the box. Also Vet said they dont rarely see people to take care kittens where they will have to get up, buy milk, kitten foods and take them to emergency.

I just have to say, I'm glad that you meantioned that you're deaf. I have a lot easier time reading your posts when I read them as they would be signed rather than how they're spoken.
What small town are you from? There are a lot of members here from a variety of places across the world; there's a chance someone might know somebody you could call for help.
