Looks like Honey enjoyed it...for a while anyways. We might get snow once every 10 yrs...it's been a while, but maybe this will be the year. It's 70 right now though, so it won't be soon!

momPaws - I love the pictures and if it'll make you feel better, it will be about 35 degrees in sunny Central Florida tommorrow night. We may get a freeze Saturday night. I suspect if we're that cold, the rest of the southeast will be downright miserable.

The last time a remember snow in Florida was the Christmas freeze of 1989 - Jacksonville and surrounding areas got 6 inches - I think it was a record. Dade County (north of Miami) even had a few flurries. Unfortunately, I was living at the south tip of Lake Okeechobee at the time, and the warmth of the lake gave us cold rain instead of snow. I was on-call that night, and I remember the 19 degree weather VERY well. The last time I saw snow here in Florida was when we were in the panhandle - I think January of 1975. I love the look of newly fallen snow, but I don't miss the cold weather that goes with it.

Yes, Karen ...we will be in the teens tonight. Gee, I never knew that it snowed in Florida ...every 20 years, but still! The kids must have loved that. I really love the change of seasons but as I get older the shoveling burns my shoulders. But everyone I love is here and is the only home I know. I do like it here. Home is home.

I love these pics - don't know how I missed them before - Honey is such a sweetie. Snow would be welcome here in drought blighted Central Texas - or any moisture for that matter would be great... So it's nice to look at pictures of snow... reminds me of the years I lived up North.

We can get some really cold weather - but it's usually extremely dry and clear when we do. Snow is a rarity, but it does happen every now and then, and the kids have a blast. I understand about 'home'. All of my immediate family is less then 2 hours away, but Florida isn't really 'home' the way you describe. As an Air Force 'brat', I can't really call anywhere 'home' - one of the disadvantages of moving around a lot. (There are many advantages, and I had a wonderful childhood, but, the one thing I did miss out on is having life-long friends and a place to truly call home for the rest of my life.) My mother was raised in Nashville, but, after my grandfather died, her mother moved to Atlanta to be near my mother's brother. Granny's house was the only consistent home I knew while I was growing up, and it was very hard on me when she sold it (I was 19 and in college in north Florida - my Dad was stationed in Turkey and the rest of my family was there with him). You are very fortunate to have that strong tie to a place you can call home. There is no replacement in our hearts for that feeling. I love living in Florida, but just as the winters are getting harder on you, the hot summers are getting harder on me. It's a trade-off for nice winters though. It got down in the upper 30's last night, but up into the mid 50s today - dry, cool, and just lovely. We may get that freeze tonight - gotta cover up the plants on the porch.
