Anybody have any suggestions for keeping cats occupied in a small room? I'm visiting my parents and they are cooped up in my bedroom (all three of them in the one room). They're getting pretty bored, I think. I did bring along a scratching post and some of their favorite toys, and they have a blanket in front of the window. But there's just no room to run in there so I'm not sure how much they're playing. I tried to cut a hole in a small container and put their treats in there, but they haven't figured out how that works yet. Mostly they are just sleeping, and flipping over their water bowls in protest. They are pretty much stuck in there because of my parents' cats and the Christmas decorations. I take Pat out on little field trips around the rest of the upstairs, but the other two get scared. I try to spend some time with them throughout the day, and I sleep with them.
Any ideas on how to make them less bored??? It's going to be two more weeks, at least, before we go home.

Re: Bored Boys
More time spent with them is definately going to help, they're probably stressed. Especially during the holiday, when things tend to get loud and noisy, they'll need your reassurance constantly.
Any way you can let them out later in the evening, supervised?
Try catnip, a radio playing soft music, cheap scratching pads (can get these at a petsmart, relatively cheap)....perhaps new toys or new beds, etc.

Re: Bored Boys
They've got a few new toys (or at least toys that they haven't seen since June, the last time they were here).
It's pretty quiet here now, no parties at the moment, so they aren't terribly stressed. Even my scaredy-cat is spending time out and about rather than hiding under the bed.
I brought one of their short scratching posts from home, which they've been using.
I could try finding some catnip. Maybe I'll go out tomorrow and get some (although the traffic on the road by the close pet store is awful!!!).
And the radio is a good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that. It's sitting right there in the room with them, I just hadn't thought to turn it on.
Thanks.
