why does my cat does this lol?
not sure where to post this but i had a question about my deaf kitty cat,George. He can be real naughty but does something that i have never seen another cat do before. without fail every single time i open my dishwasher door he ISISTS on jumping onto the open door and laying there until i am done and kick him off, does anyone elses cat do this? also whenever he is out of water he gets humouresly violent with his water dish!

No. but my neighbor's dog "pre-washes' the dishes for her as she loads the dishwasher.
Re: why does my cat does this lol?
reminds me of a story I read in Reader's Digest years ago...
a woman wrote that her neighbors "stopped by to visit" just about every night around supper time, so then of course, this woman and her husbnad felt obligated to serve them some of their food.
This went on for a while, and the woman and her husband got tired of feeding the mooching neighbors. Sooo...one night after they ate, the husband let in the german shepherd and the wife placed all the dinner plates and serving dishes on the floor. The dog licked them all clean, while the husband and wife continued to casually chat with their neighbors...and when the dog was finished, the woman picked them up and placed them into the cabinets then came back to the table to talk as if nothing unusual had happened.
The neighbors never did stop by at supper time again...hahaha
and of course, after they left, she got the dishes back out and washed them properly...

hayleym72, you need to ensure this does not become a habit, it's a dangerous one. This also applies to washers and dryers, all too often, owners let their pets get into these appliances, and one day, they do not look....TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES.
Prevent your cat NOW, from doing this. Teach him the appliances are off-limits, make sure he is not allowed to be near when you open the door.

oh traci i understand what your saying about the safety issue, when i was younger my cat went in the dryer and no one knew and turned it on! she lived and aged normally and passed at about 23 yrs old but we got lucky! so i know all about those dangers and we keep a good eye on him. also he has been hard to teach as he is deaf and we do shoo him down but he doesnt care, he is still a baby and in time will learn. i just wonder what his fascination is with it!

It smells different. He's curious. Cats will investigate smells because of their sensitive noses and natural curiosoty. Make sure you teach him that the dishwasher, and all other major appliances, are not acceptable places for him to play.
