Strays/Ferals and my indoor Zoe - is spraying in the future?

Post by mlowndes »

I rescued my cat from outside my apartment building two years ago. Last weekend I moved from my top floor apt. to a basement level apt. with full-size, ground-level windows. My cat Zoe loves her new view and has been at the windows for three days straight  .

Although I haven't spotted one in a while, I know at times there can be several strays or ferals lurking around my block. Because my parents had such a nasty case of strays spraying their sliding glass door behind which their cat used to sit all day, I'm suddenly concerned that something similar might happen to me.

Although I haven't spotted one yet, would it be worthwhile to use something now right outside the windows as a preventative deterrent? If not and something should happen down the road, does anyone recommend a particular type of deterrent?

Thanks!

The best preventitive is human hair. Go to a local beauty salon with a ziplock bag and ask them to please fill er up :) Be prepared for some pretty odd stares! LOL But it works, unless it rains and then the scent washes away.
