I'm here! And Izzy's here, too. She's been going crazy all day, chasing toys up and down the stairs. I think it's the full moon.

Tried to post the following earlier - about 9 a.m. CDT - but our server went out (again!) Will see if can get it on the board as is:

I am here briefly :? ... try to check in once in awhile but seldom have time to write one of my rambling posts so end up saying nothing (a new thing for me, right? )

I was just about to say Q has been successfully integrated into the household... when a catfight among the 3 neutered males erupted in the hallway... Only for a moment however.

Q snuggles close to me at night - which he hadn't done for a long time at home. He is still a picky eater - never was a fat cat - but seems to be putting on some weight. I got him a "Harley Davidson" design breakaway collar... adult granddaughter remarked this was appropriate for such a brave survivor cat. Seriously, my strictly indoor cats always wear belled collars... in New Orleans they have license & rabies tags just like dogs even though they don't go outdoors... I know some people disagree with this concept, but in my community we were urged to do it for ID in emergencies... Q's collar was removed by the rescue people. Now he has a microchip, I'm told... but without a collar, who would think to scan for that in an ordinary-looking domestic stray?

`Eowyn the gsd is doing OK also... seems to like being one of a "pack"... It is interesting to see how these 3 big dogs - all spayed/neutered - worked things out: Medb ("Mave") the eldest (14 + and very crippled) ranks first, Winnie next as junior female, and sweet, gentle Sergio (male golden retriever) is last in the pecking order - he doesn't mind a bit so far as I can tell...

Q then shed his new collar... so at least I know the breakaway works

Aww, cherish those snuggles! He must have been so confused at the recent events, and lonesome!

We scan all animals that come into our shelter. ... Even hamsters. ...

Sounds like things are never quiet there E's. Any idea when (if?) you'll be going back to NOLA? Glad to hear Q has adjusted well. He must realize how important you are to him and be very grateful to be back with you.

Skeptic - do people really microchip hamsters?
