I was thinking of trying Innova Evo, as my dog Maggie has some food allergies related to different grains. It is "grain-free", and the nutritional makeup is as follows:
Moisture 10.0 %
Protein 42.0 %
Fat 22.0 %
Fiber 2.5 %
Calories 1741 Kcal/lb
Calories 3838 Kcal/Kg
Calories 537 KCals/Cup
I have never seen a protein content this high--is it dangerous?
I have had her to the vet and a veterinary dermatologist, who recommended trying the Evo.
Innova Evo--too much protein at 42%?
Re: Innova Evo--too much protein at 42%?
What does your primary vet suggest?
This food indeed has a high protein content, ideally, you want to stay within a 23-30% range, but age, activity level, etc need to be taken into consideration. The protein quality and source is also important, so for a dog with allergies or sensitivities, should be introduced to a diet with preferrably one protein source he/she has never been exposed to prior.
